September, 2009
Greetings!

The leaves may be falling, but in the Texas Plains Trail Region, the excitement is rising!  Autumn is the time to plan family excursions to take-in the vibrant colors of our region.  We believe wholeheartedly that the best foliage occurs right in our own backyard. Our communities offer a cool relief to those financial woes with affordable local escapes.  Try a cost-friendly day trip to enjoy our hiking  & biking trails, historic museums, fun festivals, unique shopping experiences, and Texas-flavored restaurants. With our awesome State Parks, you don't have to drive far to enjoy the great outdoors.  So c'mon, what are you waiting for?  Pack up the family and come enjoy the Texas Plains Trail Region... the "Texas You Will Remember!"

Happy "Plains" Trails to you,

Exciting Activities in the Texas Plains Region

We don't think that the Tourism business in our region has even been tapped.  Our organization is constantly looking for strategies and creative ways to increase visitation to our area and assist in developing communities.  Got a brainstorm?  Send it our way! Following is just a few of the plans in the works.

1.  TPTR will be manning the Texas Heritage Trail's Booth at the TEXAS STATE FAIR from October  1-6.  Let me know if you would like to participate.

2.  We are moving forward to see that the next Texas Wine Trail will include the Panhandle and South Plains area and encompass the Texas Plains Trail Region.

3.  Look for coming announcements for workshops to assist small museums and also to help communities develop tour packages and brochures.

4. West Texas Media, in partnership with TPTR,  offers professional quality video opportunities to showcase your community or organization.   Contact Shane Swift at 806-544-0147 for details.

5.  Rick Vanderpool, a talented and creative photographer, has put together a cost-friendly proposal for Counties within the TPTR to have a 2-3  day photography session which can in turn be turned into posters, calendars, notepads, and puzzles.  Visit Rick's website to see his amazing work at:  www.stateart.net or call: 903-450-6800.

6.  Also, thanks to Rick, we are looking into a 52-County USPS Special Cancellation stamp project.  More on this later.
