Last spring, PES introduced 300 washable, reusable feminine hygiene sanitary pads to community girls and women in three of our school's villages. A follow up interest survey revealed the girls' and womens' desire to learn how to sew their own and bring them to market.
PES and Korbel School of International Studies, University of Denver interns have developed:
- A girls' feminine hygiene sanitary and HIV vocational class at Ayak Anguei Girls Primary School
- A womens' vocational feminine hygiene pad production tailoring class in the village of Pagook
Removing a simple monthly barrier can make a dramatic difference in a girl's or woman' s educational pursuits- $25 provides fabric, snaps, thread for 4 pads, 4 liners and carry case
- $50 provides 4 scissors and pattern templates for pads, liners and carry case
- $100 purchases 1 snap machine
- $250 provides a treadle sewing machine
- $25 monthy RECURRING donation (replenishes sewing supplies for the program)
