- Over 93% of all women in Southern Sudan are illiterate (UNICEF)
- Only 1% of girls finish primary school; less than 1% graduate from high school (UNICEF)
- Only 10% of girls, agest 7-14 go to schoool - this is the lowest rate in the world (UNICEF)
- Sudan has the lowest access to primary education in the world (UNICEF)
- Only 33% of children betwen the ages of 7-14 go to school (UNICEF)

Golf Tournament
The Women's College of the University of Denver is now a sister school to Ayak Anguei Girls Primary School. The Women's College student group, Business Minded Women (BMW) has committed to a partnership with Project Education Sudan. BMW is holding their annual golf tournament Friday, June 19th, 2009 and have committed to donating a portion of the proceeds from the tournament to PES.
