Subway Opens in New Location on Historic Market Street

Corning, NY - January 17, 2012 - Corning's Gaffer District is pleased to announce the relocation of Subway to a new space on Historic Market Street.

The popular restaurant, formerly located at 83 W. Market Street, has relocated to its current space at 20 E. Market Street, former site of The Olive Branch retail store.  In addition to the move, the interior of the new eatery has been completely renovated, adding contemporary fixtures and modern furniture, offering patrons a casual and comfortable dining experience.

When the space became available in early 2011, restaurant owner Uma Ramaiah - who also owns and operates the Subway restaurant in Riverside - saw an immediate opportunity to expand.  After six years in the original space, Ramaiah purchased the vacant building at 20 E. Market Street and began a complete renovation which lasted the duration of the summer.  In addition to the first-floor restaurant, plans are underway to develop the upper floors into residential spaces.

In celebration of the relocation, Subway will offer a special coupon to customers on Thursday, January 19th.  From 6:00am to 9:00pm, customers will enjoy buy one, get one free on all regular six-inch subs and flatbreads; free item must be equal or lesser value.  Copies of the coupon will be available in Thursday's edition of The Leader.

The staff of Subway invites all area residents to check out the new location and take advantage of this special promotion.  Ramaiah is excited to be in the new building, noting, "I'm so pleased with the new location and grateful to be a part of this vibrant community.  I look forward to continued development of the building and the downtown."
