Corning, NY - March 31, 2011 - Corning's Gaffer District is pleased to welcome Fringe Hairdressers to Historic Market Street. Located at 79 E. Market St., in the site of the former Shoe Doctor, Fringe Hairdressers is undergoing renovation with plans to open in April 2011.
With more than 25 years experience, owner Kristina Rhodes is no stranger to the industry. In addition to nearly a dozen years working in the Corning area, Rhodes has spent a number of years traveling the country - from Las Vegas, Dallas, New York City and Orlando - continuing her education in the personal style trade. Rhodes has had training in Australia and has even spent two years managing a salon in the U.K. Most recently she worked with Toni & Guy - a London-based salon in Orlando as a salon manager and senior colorist.
In late 2010, Rhodes made the decision to open her own salon, and chose Historic Market Street as the backdrop. Rhodes notes, "After traveling the world and living abroad I would like to bring back to Corning what I've learned in my career. I am dedicated to continuing my education in the field of hairdressing and strive to remain cutting edge."
The salon, currently under major interior renovation, will boast a brand-new look consistent with Rhodes' mission - to provide service and style using environmentally-responsible practices. For its interior design and line of personal care products, Rhodes has paired with AvedaŽ - an international beauty company widely recognized as a pioneer in the development and use of eco-friendly hair care products.
During the renovation, Rhodes has partnered with Robert's Hair Salon to offer uninterrupted service to her customers. Upon opening the new salon, Fringe Hairdressers will offer a full line of services for men and women including: haircutting, color and highlights, styling and make-up. Complete hairstyling services will also be available for bridal parties. Both appointments and walk-ins will be accepted. Staff joining Rhodes include her daughter and recent graduate, Kifflyn Moore along with licensed aesthetician Stacy Melozzi, who will offer facials, body waxing, and Dermalogica skin care products.
