Corning, NY - January 25, 2011 - Corning's Gaffer District is pleased to welcome Stained Glass Works & Antiques to Historic Market Street.
Located at 63 East Market Street in the site of the former Edible Arrangements, Stained Glass Works & Antiques is open for business. After only a few weeks in business, the specialty retailer already has much of its storefront filled with a variety of antiques and one-of-a-kind stained glass pieces.
Owner Joe Barlett is no stranger to the business. With more than 35 years as an
antique dealer with multiple retail locations in Pennsylvania, Barlett decided to expand in the fall of 2010, opening a new location in downtown Corning. According to Barlett, the decision to open in Corning continues to be a smart choice. Barlett notes, "We're so very excited to bring our love of antiques, collectibles and stained glass to Corning and open our store in the Gaffer District. This community is the ideal place to operate a new location and we're grateful to be welcomed into this wonderful community of small businesses."
In addition to his experience as a retailer, Barlett has more than 30 years experience designing and creating stained glass art and has shared his skills and knowledge of the industry with three decades as a lecturer at two universities in Pennsylvania.
In addition to the opening of his newest store, Barlett has continued his investment in the downtown by purchasing the building in which his store resides. A complete renovation and remodeling of the rear areas of the store will yield several additional square feet of space, allowing for an expanded inventory and stained glass workshop where classes will be offered.
A formal grand opening and ribbon cutting is slated for spring 2011. Currently, the store is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. For additional information, please contact Stain Glass Works & Antiques at (607) 936-3772.
