Corning, NY - October 15, 2010 - Corning's Gaffer District is pleased to welcome Poppleton Pastries to Historic Market Street.
Located at 23 West Market Street in the site of the former Black & White Cookie Café, Poppleton Pastries opened on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Prior to opening the Corning location, co-owners Dodie Poppleton and Meghan Tuazon had already gained local acclaim and recognition through their wholesale business, providing products to eateries including Sophie's Café, Silverbird Espresso and Heavenly Cup Coffee Roasters.
In addition to its famous scones, Poppleton Pastries also offers cheesecake, tarts, pies, cookies, muffins, locally-roasted coffee, gourmet hot chocolate with homemade marshmallows and more. Heartier fare such as quiche and soups are available during lunch hours.
When Poppleton and Tuazon decided to open a retail storefront and café, the choice of downtown Corning was a no-brainer. Co-owner Meghan Tuazon notes, "We're thrilled to be part of Corning's Gaffer District. This is easily the best location in the area for us to open a bakery." Poppleton echoes the feeling, noting, "There's a great sense of community and diverse culture in Corning. We couldn't imagine having our business anywhere else."
Following a complete interior renovation, the bakery is now open for business. A formal grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony is slated for late fall. For additional information, please visit www.poppletonpastries.com.
