Corning, NY - October 13, 2010 - Corning's Gaffer District is pleased to welcome Connors Mercantile as the title sponsor for the 2010 Crystal City Christmas Events Season.

An anchor retail property located at 16 East Market Street, Connors Mercantile will join Corning's Gaffer District in support of the holiday events, including Holidazzle, the Window of Gifts Giveaway, the Centerway Tree Lighting, Parade of Lights and 36th annual Sparkle.

From its humble beginnings in 1975 as the "gift" section in a family-owned pharmacy in the Gaffer District, through its move and expansion as a mercantile in 1998 to the present location on Market Street, Connors Mercantile has become a hotspot retail venue for Twin Tier locals and tourists alike. It's prominent history in downtown Corning includes a rally of supporters, including founders Barbara and George Connors, several loyal employees, neighboring Gaffer District businesses, and generations of customers.

Connors Mercantile store manager Jill Agosta understands the importance of supporting small business, noting, "While we have always believed in giving back to our community and our supporters, this year, in honor of the 35th anniversary of Connors Mercantile, we are announcing the largest investment in our history back into the local community.  We are proud to announce that Connors Mercantile will be the Title sponsor for the Crystal City Christmas in the Gaffer District."
