Corning, NY - May 20, 2010 - A new series of posters featuring local business owners will soon begin appearing in Corning's Gaffer District windows.
 
The series is called "I am the Gaffer District" and is being kicked off with images of Andy Sprague of Sprague Insurance, Joe and Don Lando of Lando's Hotel & Lounge and Bejay, Sue and Terry Smith of Brown's Cigar Store.  The oversized posters will be placed in the windows of available properties on Market and Bridge streets.
 
"So many of our businesses have a rich history in Corning and we wanted to pay tribute to them," said Coleen Fabrizi, Gaffer District executive director.  "At the same time, as we go forward we want to feature some of our newer owners, who also represent the entrepreneurial spirit that has made this district such a wonderful place to work and do business."
 
Corning photographer Myles Lasco of UrbanCorning.com is donating his services for the project.
 
The posters are an ongoing effort, according to Fabrizi, and will feature different business owners on a rotating basis over time.
