Dear Members:

Summer has finally hit full-force and with it the weather we have all been waiting for! The Vaughan Chamber of Commerce ushered in summer in style with our Annual Golf Tournament held on Monday, June 27. The day could not have been more perfect! Conditions were excellent, and our full complement of golfers had a fantastic time on The Country Club's 18 holes. Thank you to all our supportive sponsors, especially to CIBC for being the Event Sponsor. Thank you also to our hard working volunteers who helped make the day a much-talked about success!
With the summer months, the Chamber recognizes that priorities shift, just a bit. Our focus tends to lean towards free time with our families, cottages, camping, or even just enjoying our own backyards. The Chamber will continue to offer some excellent events, such as the breakfast session with Minister of Health Deb Matthews on July 21, as well as amazing opportunities, like the "Adventure to China" trip that we have procured. Information for both can be found within this Newsletter.
But in addition to all that, the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce also finds time to become involved with many worthy community initiatives, such as the "York Region Making Ends Meet" program. This program has been launched with the express purpose of making a positive difference in the community and York Region as a whole. In spite of York Region's image of wealth and success, there are people in our area who are in need and at risk. The "Making Ends Meet" program aims to find ways to help protect these vulnerable sectors, and the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce is excited to be a part of it. To learn more about this program and how you too can become involved, please click here .
Until next month, enjoy July and be sure to check www.vaughanchamber.ca regularly to keep informed of all upcoming events and programs!
Sincerely,
Michael Manett Chairman of the Board of Directors

Chamber Dress Down Fridays - Charity Wins!
 | |
Jennifer Rashy, Fiorina Riga, Marnie Beard and Deborah Bonk Greenwood.
|
This past year, the Vaughan Chamber staff has participated in dress-down Fridays for a cause! Staff had agreed to "dress down" on Fridays while making a weekly donation to an agreed-upon charity: Burkitt's Lymphoma Research at Princess Margaret Hospital. This charity was agreed upon by the Chamber team in support of one of our team members' personal loss. The Vaughan Chamber had also agreed to MATCH whatever funds were raised by the staff. The good news is that staff and the Chamber were able to donate $642 towards this worthy cause! What a great example of how a small staff of only five can make a difference!
