Dear Members:

2011 is well underway, and the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce continues to make major strides on behalf of business in Vaughan!
April saw our biggest event of the year, the 22nd Annual Business Achievement Awards on April 28. Close to 600 people attended this phenomenal event, our biggest turnout ever!! Congratulations to all winners and finalists - your hard work and strong work ethic make Vaughan a top-notch place to do business. A special thank you must go to Event Sponsor TD as well as all our numerous other sponsors. Without you, this event would not have been the success it was. For a full listing of the evening's winners, please click here.
Of course, this past Monday saw a Federal election and a decisive voice in the Vaughan and Thornhill ridings, with the win of both Conservative incumbents. Leading up to this election, the Vaughan Chamber of Commerce Policy Committee was hard at work, posing questions to the Conservative and Liberal candidates in Vaughan and publishing the results on our website on April 25. The Policy Committee had five set questions of primary concern to area business that they posed to the candidates. Click here to see the answers.
What might the results of this election mean for the business community in Vaughan? The Chamber has already established a strong and healthy working relationship with Julian Fantino, and Monday's election results point to a positive future for Vaughan business.
Finally, the Vaughan Chamber is busily working towards a number of exciting events in the near future, including the "Let's Talk Exports" annual luncheon on June 1, the "Women to Women: Wine Pairing with Rosanna" event on June 9, and the ever-popular Annual Golf Tournament on June 27. Information for all of these events plus more can be found in the newsletter, below.
I'd also like to remind everyone that in order to get the most out of your Chamber membership, you should get involved with one of our committees. We are looking for additional members for our newly developed Industry Committee as well as our Policy and Women's Committees. For more information, please contact Chamber President & CEO Deborah Bonk Greenwood.
Sincerely,
Michael Manett Chairman of the Board of Directors
