| The Chronicle Online | August 2010 |
Dear Members:
It's difficult to believe that we are already into the month of August. Have you taken your vacation yet? One idea that has garnered much attention is the concept of the "staycation". Instead of spending your hard-earned money in another part of the world, why not stay close to home and support the tourist industry and businesses in our own fair city? The City of Vaughan is Canada's fastest growing municipality with a population of 280,000 people and 9,000 businesses. Vaughan is strategically located in the economic heart of the Greater Toronto Area and is a destination of choice for both businesses and leisure visitors. Business, residents and visitors are drawn to the City of Vaughan for its high quality of life, safe neighbourhoods, abundant green spaces and exciting tourist attractions including Canada's Wonderland, a world class theme park, the McMichael Canadian Art Collection, home of the Group of Seven, the Kortright Centre for Conservation, the nation's leading knowledge centre for the environment and conservation, Reptilia, a reptile zoo extraordinaire with 25,000 sq. ft. of nothing but reptiles, and Vaughan Mills, a 1.2 million sq. ft. indoor shopping and entertainment centre. Vaughan is an internationally connected, cosmopolitan city with world class infrastructure and excellent connections to other major cities and regional centres throughout Canada and beyond. In addition to our Canadian identity, Vaughan has a unique global mix of culture, cuisine, architecture and arts. There's something for everyone. It is a city that promotes diversity, innovation and opportunity. Vaughan's inventory of hotel space includes many international brand names. With over 1,000 rooms, Vaughan's hotels can accommodate both business and leisure visitors in style and comfort. Amenities, premier tourist attractions, entertainment, theatres, wineries, exquisite dining and incredible shopping are all within a short distance. It's obvious why visitors and residents alike are drawn to the City of Vaughan! Think about planning your next "staycation" right here in Vaughan, and support your city and your fellow Vaughan Chamber members. Holidays are meant to be relaxing, and oftentimes, the best place to relax is at home. For information on restaurants, accommodation and shopping in the City of Vaughan, please refer to the Vaughan Chamber's 2010 Business Directory, or visit the City of Vaughan's Tourism page.
Sincerely,
Michael Manett Chairman of the Board of Directors |
