Dear Members,
We are in a recession and it seems everyone is feeling the crunch from the slow economy. How do you respond when someone asks you, "How's business?"
While most of your competitors are crying the blues about how bad business is, your opportunity lies in getting out there and drumming up business by networking with contacts and generating referrals.
While you cannot control the economy or your competition, you can control your response to the poor economic times. Referrals can keep your business alive and well during an economic downturn. During the last recession, thousands of businesspeople grew and prospered. They did so by developing their networking skills and learning how to build their business through word of mouth.
Chamber events are excellent opportunities to network and spread the word about your business. We have two great events coming up, the Annual General Meeting on March 30th with special guest speaker The Honourable Perrin Beatty and on April 16th our premier event of the year where Vaughan's who's who can be met, the 20th Annual Business Achievement Awards.
Don't let a bad economy be your excuse for failure. Instead, make it your opportunity to succeed. While others are looking at the problems, those of us looking for opportunities will not only get through a bad economy but will prosper. See on March 30th !

New Disability Legislation Project
The York South Simcoe Training and Adjustment Board (YSSTAB) is seeking employers with 30 or more staff for a study about the new disability legislation and accessibility in general. In return, you will get a free consultation and an on-site interview/assessment for your organization.
The purpose is to:
* Create a "new" dialogue with employers enabling them to understand the new legislation
* Conduct an assessment to identify future accessibility compliance issues
* Assist employers locate community resources
* Encourage inclusive hiring
* Determine baseline knowledge of disability, current level of accessibility, and individual hiring practices
