Dear Heel ulcers are not an easy subject. There are many factors at play, and when we seek to understand the topic we quickly realize that there is so much information (some of it conflicting) out there, some can become overwhelmed and discouraged.
One of our biggest goals with this newsletter is to attempt to send out clinical information that is relevant to you, but that also acknowledges the complexity without either oversimplifying or getting "lost in the weeds" of too
much complexity.
So this month, we have two offerings. One is the article to the right that spells out how this complexity can affect you and your facility. One reason we wanted to highlight the attached article is that it deals with the potential dangers of using anti-embolism stockings that increase the pressure on the heel. That's why we designed our Heelsafe™ DVT Hose to have an open heel that relieved pressure on the heel while allowing visualization and palpation of the area.
The second offer is an invitation to register for our upcoming webinar titled
Heel Pressure Ulcers: Your Journey Toward Zero Prevalence with Carolyn Cuttino. You'll see a great presentation from Ms. Cuttino on evidence-based interventions, and be able to participate in the live Q&A afterward.
As always, there is one aspect of heel pressure ulcer that isn't complex at all: the Heelift
® Suspension Boot has the best clinical outcomes. Unlike many boots, it can be customized to meet the needs of all your patients. But it works right out of the bag for most of your patients.
Stop by our booths at Wild On Wounds in Las Vegas or SAWC Fall in Baltimore next month to see for yourself. And, as always, please do not hesitate to contact us with your ideas or your feedback. I can be reached at
this address.
