clinician's bulletin

September 2011

Dear

It's a busy time in the wound care community. Conference season is in full swing, meaning there's a whole lot of educational opportunities out there.

One such opportunity that we're particularly excited about is a poster being presented at the Symposium on Advances in Wound Care Fall Conference in Las Vegas in October. Dr. Diane Langemo has put together a study of our new HeelSafe DVT Hose  that confirms what we've been saying. We'll let Dr. Langemo tell the full story at SAWC, but the HeelSafe hose are more comfortable, not to mention easier to don and remove. But most importantly, they keep the pressure off the heel, which helps prevent and treat heel pressure ulcers.

Of course, we'll be in the exhibit hall at SAWC Fall, in Booth #503. Stop by to see not only how HeelSafe DVT Hose can benefit your patients, but also our new Heelift®  AFO and our flagship product, the Heelift® Suspension Boot.

You'll also want to keep an eye out for our special pre-conference mailing, in which we tell you how you can win $500.

And if you can't make it to the SAWC conference  to see Dr. Langemo's poster but are interested in her tireless work in the areas of preventing and treating heel pressure ulcers, you can visit our website to watch an informative presentation "Heel Pressure Ulcers: A to Z"
which should be required viewing for you and your staff.

As always, if there is anything we at DM Systems Inc can do to help you in your practice, please do not hesitate to let us know. We want to hear from you, and can be reached at this address.

Sincerely,

Denis B. Drennan, MD
President, DM Systems Inc.

Karen Ann Cock

Anti-embolism stockings are widely advocated in the prevention of
deep vein thrombosis. But do they do more harm than good? This
article explores the effectiveness of this intervention and the possible
link with heel pressure ulceration, an increasing problem which costs
the NHS millions of pounds and causes suffering to patients.

"[We were] able to place resident many places and still able to keep pressure off heel. I don't think staff is fully aware of how important it is to prevent and to relieve pressure from points of contact."
