Dear

When are pressure ulcers avoidable? It's the oldest debate we have in wound care. What's not debatable is that when pressure ulcers are likely, having a robust prevention and treatment program is key.

A big part of the program your facility uses should be the Heelift® Suspension Boot. The Heelift completely offloads the heel and redistributes pressure so a heel ulcer can't develop.

Find out more by viewing customer testimonials from facilities using the Heelift, read more clinical papers, and watch informative videos on the Heelift in our Resource Center.  You'll also find on our website information about our other products, including the new Heelift AFO. See why we're calling the Heelift AFO "A Softer, Gentler Solution."

Finally, let me encourage you one last time to attend the NPUAP National Biennial Conference at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, February 25-26. Top notch educational content, in a smaller setting

We hope to see you there.

Sincerely,

Denis B. Drennan, MD

Pressure Ulcers: Avoidable or Unavoidable? Results of the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel Consensus Conference

Although pressure ulcer (PrU) development is now generally considered an indicator for quality of care, questions and concerns about situations in which they are unavoidable remain. Considering the importance of this issue and the lack of available research data, in 2010 the National Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel (NPUAP) hosted a multidisciplinary conference to establish consensus on whether there are individuals in whom pressure ulcer development may be unavoidable and whether a difference exists between end-of-life skin changes and pressure ulcers.

"I was the head of a skin/wound committee at a teaching hospital in Houston, Texas before coming to Georgia. We used the Heelift boot as a preventative product and it worked very well. Our heel ulcer rate decreased dramatically! I am a big believer in this product and have seen excellent results. For hospital use, the Heelift can save money, as well as provide quality care for their patients in a cost effective manner."
