Quality of Life and Pressure Ulcers: What is the Impact?
Diane K. Langemo, PhD, RN, FAAN
Wounds. 2005;17(1):3-7.
books

Having a pressure ulcer, particularly a stage 4 ulcer which exposes muscle and often times bone, significantly impacts an individual's life in overt as well as covert ways. This impact is unique to each individual, and contributes to their quality of life (QoL), which in turn affects the provision of care. Health care providers in every clinical setting who care for such individuals must be acutely aware of, and sensitive to, the impacts and issues on every dimension of QoL. This article discusses research findings of the impact of having a pressure ulcer and the sequelae of such an ulcer on multiple dimensions of QoL.

"I was the head of a skin/wound committee at a teaching hospital in Houston, Texas before coming to Georgia. We used the Heelift boot as a preventative product and it worked very well. Our heel ulcer rate decreased dramatically!

I am a big believer in this product and have seen excellent results. For hospital use, the Heelift can save money, as well as provide quality care for their patients in a cost effective manner."
