A Message from the County Administrator
The proposed Fiscal Year 2013 Budget was presented to the Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The continued financial challenge we face today is largely due to the consequences of a declining tax digest. The 2013 budget will be below the 2007 spending levels with no millage rate increase. My goal is to have the balanced Fiscal Year 2013 Budget adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on June 19th.
Camden County was formally recognized during the 2012 Association of County Commissioners of Georgia annual meeting in May as an award recipient for the Seventh Annual Georgia County Excellence Awards program for its efforts in establishing the "Helping Citizens Save Lives - Andrew Cohn Automatic External Defibrillator Project." It's an honor for Camden County to be recognized on a state level by its peers for its partnerships and leadership in providing innovative, effective and fiscally responsible programs for its citizens."
I look forward to working with each of you as we continue to move Camden County forward in 2012.
Yours for a better Camden,
Steve L. Howard, CPM, CPPO County Administrator |

NCGM Social Media Contest
One of the featured NCGM events included a social media contest to win a "Living Well" gift basket to promote healthy lifestyles in our community. More than 20 participants posted photos on the County's Facebook page of themselves, family, or friends being active by participating in a sport, exercising, or eating healthy foods to promote their healthy lifestyles and hobbies.
Congratulations to Kerry Talbert, the lucky winner of the LIVING WELL gift basket! Also, congratulations to Katie Bishop, the lucky winner for the employee Living Well gift basket! Both gift baskets were sponsored by generous donations and were not County funded. |
NCGM Art Project
In conjunction with National County Government Month during April 2012, the County hosted an art project for the Camden County High School art students. Posters were created by the art students of Mr. Day focused on the NCGM theme "Healthy Counties, Healthy Families." The posters were displayed at the Government Services Complex in Woodbine during April and May. This project creates awareness of the interconnectivity between government and community.
