Steele Center Researcher Speaks at UA President's Club Luncheon in Phoenix
The theme for this year's UA President's Club Luncheon in Phoenix was Destination: Discovery. Departments from across campus were invited to share how their work is impacting Maricopa County and beyond.
Steele Center PhD student, Raji Ramalingam (pictured here with UA President Robert Shelton) had the honor of being one of two students chosen to share about how Maricopa County has made a difference in their lives. Raji is the first Dorrance Fellow, a fellowship set up by Phoenix-area residents Jacquie and Bennett Dorrance. Because of their generosity, Raji has the opportunity to obtain a world-class education at the University of Arizona, and has been able to conduct research in pediatric gastroenterology where she has made groundbreaking discoveries.

'Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research' Walk Raises Funds for Steele Center
On Saturday, February 20th, University of Arizona students braved the rain and gathered to show their support for the fight against brain tumors. Students Supporting Brain Tumor Research held their 2nd annual walk here in Tucson, raising almost $16,000. Live music, free food, and a check presentation from the Arizona Diamondbacks brightened the day. Dr. Katsanis, Section Chief of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at the Steele Center also attended and was presented with a beautiful painting created by club member Tyler Agte. Proceeds from this year's event will support pediatric brain tumor research at the Steele Center.
