 President's Message

 President -- Karol Pokley, CAVS

Karol PokleyLately, I have thought about all that I have learned from MCDVS over the years.  As a result of the variety of topics presented at conferences, I have enhanced my communication and customer service skills, acquired better time management skills, and learned invaluable presentation tips.  I have also learned how to manage and lead different groups of people.

Not only have I applied these techniques to my work life but have also applied these to my personal life. My daughter got married this month. In planning the wedding, I became increasingly aware of the skills learned that I applied to this planning process.  I was able to organize the event just as I would an annual volunteer luncheon or fund-raising event.

I am thankful that MCDVS gave me the opportunity to grow in this way. The next time you may be second-guessing the worth of attending a conference, you may want to re-evaluate how it can be applied  professionally and personally. MCDVS is well worth the time, effort and expense!
 Providing Resources
 Resources/Marketing/PR -- Nancy Babcock, CAVS

In today's economic climate, it is important for us as Volunteer Managers to know the value our programs bring to each of our organizations.  To be successful in that mission, we need the tools, resources and outreach to help guide our path.  As Resource/PR/Marketing Chair, I look forward to helping provide information and community outreach to enhance awareness of MCDVS, ensuring our organization's resource tools are maintained and current, and continuing to work to build professionalism in the field of Volunteer Management.
