President's Message
|
This is my last newsletter article before turning the reins over to Karol Pokley and her board. It has been a privilege to sit on this '08 - '09 board with such a hardworking group of women.
This past year brought challenges, successes, difficult discussions, and hard work, but through it all I think our greatest accomplishment was respectful communication. The conversations were energizing instead of draining, issues were debated, challenged and resolved. I looked forward to attending each and every board meeting, knowing that I had an extremely supportive group waiting to do the best they could to ensure the future of MCDVS. I was able to draw on the opinions and vast knowledge of several past presidents.
I look forward to continuing on the board as advisor and helping in whatever capacity I can. Thank you for the honor of serving as your president. |
Keeping on Task
President-Elect -- Karol Pokley, CAVS |
Whew, National Volunteer Week is over and we are done putting ourselves into high gear! Now, if you are like me, you have a mindset to take a big "sigh of relief" and begin to "coast!"
Well, as all of us know, there is no time for such coasting! We need to move quickly onto the next project(s) or deadline(s). If this sounds like what you are going through, let me offer you some time management tips that might spur you on:
1. Make the most of 15 minutes 2. Make a list of small tasks that only take a few minutes to finish. 3. Commit to working on a large project for a certain amount of time. 4. Keep a "pending" file and refer to it often. 5. Try not to leave too many loose ends at the end of the day. 6. Complete the "tough" tasks as early as possible. 7. Work within your energy level. 8. Develop and keep your deadline. 9. Don't be a perfectionist. Do great work, of course, but do not
give a task more time and energy than it deserves. Remember:
Progress not Perfection!
Every day, we need to review our accomplishments, both small and large, and be thankful for the difference we have made, one step at a time! |

Where else can you get so much and more for just $60? Membership deadline is May 30, 2009. |
