We Recommend: THE SINGING REVOLUTION
Singing Revolution Picture Song Festival - 25,000 on stage, Still from The Singing Revolution

We'd like to recommend a documentary that shares a common thread with Pray the Devil Back to Hell.

The Singing Revolution DVD The Singing Revolution tells a story about hundreds of thousands of regular citizens in Estonia who came together and used non-violent strategy to resolve conflict in their country.

This historically vital tale might have been forgotten and virtually unknown to the rest of the world had it not been documented in a film, much like the story of the Liberian women in Pray the Devil Back to Hell.

More About the Film

Estonia lived through decades of terror while occupied by the Soviets in 1939, then by the Nazis, and then by the Soviets again. Music sustained the Estonian people during those years, and was such a crucial part of their struggle for freedom that their successful bid for independence is known as the Singing Revolution.

James Tusty and Maureen Castle Tusty’s The Singing Revolution tells the moving story of how the Estonian people peacefully regained their freedom--and helped topple an empire along the way.
