John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award

On behalf of the women of Liberia, Leymah Gbowee has been chosen as one of the recipients of the 2009 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. She will be an honored guest of Caroline Kennedy at the Annual JFK Library Gala on the evening of Sunday May 17. Then will receive her award and address the audience at the award ceremony in the JFK Library on the morning of Monday, May 18.

Leymah Gbowee and the Liberian Women in Peace-Building Network (WIPSEN) to be Honored in Philadelphia

The Celebrate Africa 2009 Committee and the Liberian Association of Pennsylvania honors Leymah Gbowee. She was unanimously selected as one of the honorees based on her daring and courageous action of restoring peace to Liberia through non-violent means.
