Belt Railway of Chicago Golf Open
The Belt Railway of Chicago hosted the first golf outing at Cog Hill on July 9th.  The BPCIA wants to express our appreciation to The Belt for their support and generosity.  We would also like to thank The Village of Bedford Park for their hot dog sponsorship and The Weglarz Company for their beverage sponsorship.  The hot dog and beverage sponsors are always a big hit!  The golfers really appreciate a nice cold beverage and a great Cog Hill hot dog on the course.  Twenty-five dollar cash prizes for the Longest Putt and Closest to the Pin were also awarded:

Closest to the Pin:
Course #1 - Sponsored by Chicago Office Products
Course #3 - Sponsored by Costco Wholesale

These awards along with the hole sponsors are all donated by our very generous members.  We'd also like to thank Beacon Printers for donating the golf tickets once again this year.  On behalf of the golfers, we want to express our gratitude to all our sponsors.  We appreciate the support to make our golf outings the successes they are. We could not do it without YOU!

Bedford Park's FedEx Expansion To Create 60 Jobs
Given the latest economic news in the Bedford Park business/industrial district, one might not think the national or local economy was even suffering much.  After all, it's not every day a major commercial enterprise adds jobs to the local economy of late.
Mayor David Brady presided over a July 8 dedication ceremony of a major FedEx expansion and he is most pleased about the number of new employment opportunities the move will make.
"FedEx has added on to their existing facility and we're expecting 60 jobs to be created", he said, noting the major package distribution company has added more stations for delivery and distribution as well as a brand new sorter.
"To get any new jobs right now is a Godsend", he said.  "We're very thankful of their interest in Bedford Park and we are very interested in working with a company of that caliber."
The company has been at 5151 West 73rd Street in Bedford Park for nearly a decade.
