New Business
Coming to
Bedford Park |
|
Wausau Paper Corporation, which makes towels and toilet as well as writing paper, is moving a warehouse operation near Wausau, Wisconsin, to 6220 West 73rd Street in Bedford Park. The nearly 380,300 sq-foot building is leased to Nexus Distribution Corp., an Arlington Heights-basedthird-party logistics provider that has a contract with Wausau Paper. The Wausau operation will occupy about 300,000 square feet in the building and employ at least 50 people.
Wausau looked at a number of locations in the Midwest for the hub, a spokesman for the company said. A large number of Wausau customers are within 24 hours of Chicago, and the new location will give the company more opportunity to use more intermodal train transportation, which will reduce costs, he said.
The Bedford Park center will be fully operational by midyear, the spokesman said. In addition to serving customers, the Bedford Park hub will serve Wausau's three regional distribution centers, in the Allentown, Dallas and Los Angeles area, he said.

Keep Customers with Email
Think about how many times during the year, quarter or month a customer needs you, or your products or services, and let that be your guide to determining how often to reach out and touch your audience. Think of this number as a minimum, then build from there.
Since it is roughly six to twelve times less expensive to sell to an existing customer than it is to acquire a new one, the value of customer loyalty and repeat business is just too compelling to ignore.
It's All About Communication: Communication is a critical part of a relationship. Take a lesson from small businesses that long ago grasped the dynamics and importance of building customer relationships through communication. They nurture their customers over time by learning and remembering individual preferences and interests. They acquire this customer information directly from customers through personal interaction. And they keep in touch with customers on a regular basis ensuring their organization remains "top of mind". Statics show that it takes six to seven contacts before you can turn a prospect into a customer. All that contact can be expensive and time consuming. That's where emailing becomes a critical part of any organization's marketing efforts.

| Pace Bus Modifies Schedules
Starting on March 22, Pace is modifying schedules on ten bus routes in South and Southwest Cook County to improve speed of service and on-time performance. We are asking employers, if possible, to advise employees of these changes since travel times are being adjusted. In some cases, adjustments are as great as 10 minutes which could impact connections and arrival times to destinations. This effort is part of the South Cook -Will County Initiative, which seeks to realign bus service through responding to changes in demand in an area encompassing 82 communities in Will and south Cook counties. The studied area impacts48 bus routes and approximately 40 percent of Pace's overall ridership. Pace has been working closely with communities, businesses, its customers, regional transportation and planning organizations to ensure that service changes will meet area needs and improve service reliability and functionality. Pace also offers its RideShare Program, helping match commuters throughout the region for the purpose of forming carpools and vanpools. The Pace Vanpool Program is an outstanding way to help employees reduce their commuting costs when traditional transit is not an option. Pace's Traditional and Metra Vanpools are designed to transport a group of 5-13 people to work in a Pace Van. Each rider pays a low monthly fare based on distance and number of participants. This covers all costs of the vanpool including fuel, maintenance, insurance, tolls, roadside assistance, and van washes. One of the participants volunteers to be the primary driver. He or she does not pay a fare and also receives 300 personal miles a month. For information on bus routes or the South Cook-Will County Initiative, please visit www.pacebus.com. For rideshare details, visit www.PaceRideShare.com or contact Kim Koy, Pace Business Development Representative, at 847-228-4237.
