March Madness Drains The Economy!
|
A little bit of a sensationalist headline? Probably, but it got you to read the article right? (and isn't that the reason for a headline?) Charlotte Jensen of Cole James & Associates sent us this article and thought we would share it. The three-week basketball frenzy is estimated to cost U.S. employers over $1.5 billion in lost productivity. Despite this annual drain on productivity, many employers are willing to overlook the temporary distraction. Some employers even embrace the event by setting up TV's in the break room, having team spirit days, etc. Whether it's March Madness or another sports tradition, if you are open to your employees engaging in sports activity on company time, there are a few things you should think about. COBRA Subsidy Still A Moving Target

We are not going to go into details here because our last two emails have been exclusively about the COBRA Subsidy and the (seemingly constant) changes that are happening due to new legislation. Suffice it to say that it can be confusing, but we are available to answer your questions. Whether you are a group administrator or employee - if you have questions - contact us and we will be glad to assist you.

Southern Health And HCA Reach Contract Agreement
|
Late last year we reported on the contract negotiations between Southern Health and HCA Health Systems. Fast forward to last week when we received this good news from Southern Health:
"We are pleased to announce that after extensive discussions, we have reached an agreement that allows us to continue to have HCA in our provider network for all products in the Richmond, Roanoke, and Northern Virginia markets through March 31, 2013. The successful completion of these negotiations ensures that Southern Health members will experience no network disruption related to HCA facilities..."
That is good news for everyone in Virginia. We need more options, not fewer, when it comes to health care.

Position Filled! |
We hung out a "Help Wanted" sign at the end of last year. We are happy to announce that we have found a great asset to join us here at TPA Benefits. We have known Nancy for years and it was a great coup for us to get her on board. We are excited to have her as part of the team!
If you have contact with Nancy in the future, know that you are in capable
hands!

"The average member of Congress - House and Senate - is first and foremost only a self-serving inconvenience-minimizer who doesn't have a lot of principle they stand on the first place. It doesn't take much to move a jellied spine, so they'll probably get their votes."Dick Armey
