Issue: #5                             November 2008
Greetings!

Election day!  One of the best parts of today is that there will be no more election commercials on TV for a while.  Regardless of your political bent, please vote.

We hope you enjoy these emails and hope they are of interest.  We welcome any feedback you may have.
Medicare Part D Notice is due by Nov. 15th
It is that time of year again when employers need to make sure they have distributed the Notice of Creditable Coverage required under Medicare Part D.  Employers who sponsor a health plan offering prescription drug benefits must provide an annual notice to all Medicare-eligible participants that explains whether the prescription drug benefits offered under the plan are at least as good as the benefits offered under the Medicare Part D plan.  This is referred to as 'creditable' (at least as good as Medicare Part D), or 'noncreditable' (not as good as Medicare Part D) coverage.  Read more.
Consider This...
Americans spend $1.9 trillion each year on health care
  • 50 percent of health care costs and ultimately health insurance, is related to lifestyle choices
  • 60 percent of Americans are overweight and companies pay more than $13 billion in related costs
  • 15 percent of our children are obese
  • 20 percent of our workers smoke
  • 50 percent of adults have no idea what their blood pressure, cholesterol, or blood sugar levels are
And we wonder why employers receive double digit rate increases on medical insurance?

Call me Cynical...
We are always a little cynical when it comes to surveys, polls, and articles in general - so much depends on the source. It is like the old TV commercial that said, "4 out of 5 dentists recommend sugarless gum..." You remember the commercial - it was for Trident Sugarless Gum. Imagine that.

I ran across one that was similar in its obvious bias. It is a study that shows agents increase client loyalty by sending out greeting cards.  Before you click here to see the blurb, can you guess who did the survey?

Pain-Less Website Design
ShowOffStudio button
If you've been thinking about developing a website but have put it off because you you think it's too expensive or because you just don't know where to start, today is your lucky day. I won't get into all the details here because, well, all the details are spelled out on the ShowOffStudios website but how does a first year price of between $174 and $548 sound?

"First-In" discounts available for the first five customers. So go ahead...push the button.
Wish I Had Said That...
"It's not that I don't have enough information, it's overheard...that I don't particularly like either one of them."

an undecided Ohio voter, explaining why he hasn't yet chosen a side in the presidential race

"Indecision may or may not be my problem."
Jimmy Buffett

"The key to being a good manager is to keep the guys who hate you away from the guys who are undecided."
Casey Stengel, baseball coach
Thanks for reading!  We encourage your feedback.  We want to make this something you will continue to read and look forward to receiving.
