Issue: #2                           September 2008
Greetings!

We have revived our regular emails to our clients and friends.  Unlike the previous emails which focused on just one topic, these will include multiple items - news related to the insurance industry, product information, industry statistics, and other items of interest.  We will try to keep the information relevant and interesting - and sometimes humorous (see the article below on hurricane reporters).  We hope you enjoy these emails and hope they are of interest.  We welcome any feedback you may have.
Health Costs on the way down?
Health care costs are expected to increase on average 10.6% in the next 12 months, according to Aon Consulting -- the lowest increase since the study began in 2001.

Overheard...
overheard... "As Americans debated expanding government involvement in health care, Britain's National Health Service told Olive Beal she would have to wait eighteen months to get a hearing aid.

She is 108."

from George F. Will's book, One Man's America. New York: Crown Forum, 2008.

The Lighter Side - Those Fearless Reporters

"Is it really a hurricane, or even just a "tropical depression," unless a TV reporter in a hooded windbreaker is flopping around in the wind and rain like a landed flounder?

Is it really a weather story at all unless the TV people can go outside in the storm and, while risking bodily injury, warn viewers that they shouldn't go outside in the storm and risk bodily injury... Read the rest of the article.

There is also this tongue-in-cheek video report of the reporters by CNN (after you get past the short video commercial).
Thanks for reading!  We encourage your feedback.  We want to make this something you will continue to read and look forward to receiving.

Have a great week!
