"Dance When Your Broken Open" is a world-class concert in an intimate setting that the whole family can enjoy: from John's wonderful, engaging African stories and Rumi Poetry with modern dance and multi-instrumental drumming to hoop dancing, tray of candles balancing, dancing on water glasses, Melina's one-of-a-kind sword on dagger balance, and more.

Tickets are on sale for $20 on the Moody Street Circus website. 7:30 p.m. showtime, doors open at 7. Tickets will not be on sale at the door, please pre-order your tickets today to ensure your seat. Light refreshments will be provided, to be enjoyed in an atmosphere of creativity, artistry, humor, wit and warm-hearted spirit.

John de Kadt is a multi-instrumentalist and spoken-word artist who plays many percussive instruments from around the world.  He performs on numerous recordings and performs regularly throughout the United States.  He has collaborated with many artists including Glen Velez, Eugene Friezen, David Darling, Steve Gorn, T.H. Subash Chandran, Robert Bly, Guara Vani, Wah, Coleman Barks, Krisna Das and many others. John has taught drumming live on NBC and performed on PBS. His unique blend of drum poetry, combining spoken word with live percussion, has enchanted audiences for over a decade.  www.johndekadt.com.

Melina of Daughters of Rhea (Melinda Pavlata, Ph.D.) is a second-generation belly dance & circus artist. She has performed her signature dance and aerial acts at prestigious theatres and circuses around the world, including Singapore's Victoria Theatre, Circus Flora in St Louis, and the Wallenda Family Circus in Taiwan.  She is co-founder of her family's belly dance company Daughters of Rhea, and produces the European-style family tented circus Cirque Passion. Melina's work has appeared on NPR's Marketplace and her writing on belly dance and motherhood has been published in the Boston Globe and Brain, Child magazine.  Melina and her husband - Czech circus artist Sacha Pavlata - direct Moody Street Circus, a joyful belly dance and circus arts studio for all ages in Waltham, MA.   www.daughtersofrhea.com
