community events will now be posted on our Google Calendar, which you (those who have or set up a free Google account) can print or sync to your own Microsoft Outlook Calendar.
Click on the Google image above. Search Public Calendars for 'Treasure Island Chamber' or 'Treasure Island Chamber of Commerce'
The Chamber is also planning a monthly hard copy
Calendar Newsletter to be sent directly to members.
To include your event in the mailed version of the
TI Chamber Calendar, details must be provided to the Chamber by phone, email or

MEMBER HIGHLIGHT
Insurance Resources is an independent
"Trusted Choice" agency, striving to be a respected leader in
the industry by offering peace of mind to our clients, through
personalized service and professional ongoing relationships.
We specialize in personal
lines, including homeowners, condo unit owners, auto, umbrella etc, and also
provide coverage to many condo associations and small
businesses. In addition, we have access
to Life and Health markets, surety markets and professional liability, including coverage for special Chamber events like the upcoming TI October Beach Fest (event details below).
In 1999, Anita Ford founded Insurance Resources, after having worked many years with her
husband at Tommy Ford State Farm. The insurance market
was changing, and many direct writers were
getting out. It made sense for Anita to become an
Independent Agent so that she could continue to help many of the customers they had established over the years in Treasure Island.
Approximately 20% of our
business comes from clients in and around Treasure Island,
including areas such as Yacht Club Estates.
We currently have 4 licensed
agents, 2 licensed customer service representatives and 2 support staff.
Due to state laws that
govern insurance rates, we are unable to offer discounts. However, we'd be
happy to shop different companies to find you the best rate for all types of
insurance. Insurance ResourcesPhone 727-345-0242

Luxury Nails Ribbon Cutting
TI Member Grand Re-Opening
On Thursday, September 18th, Luxury Nails owners Kelly
Nguyen and her mother, Thuy Ngoc Van, held a Grand Re-Opening Celebration in honor of
their long move from the north side to the south side - of 107th Ave, Treasure
Island. A
Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, presided by Mayor Mary Maloof and Chamber President
Dominique Reiter, was organized by the Chamber to help the Nguyen's promote
their business within the community. Kelly
hand rolled over 200 chả giņ (Vietnamese egg rolls) for the event.
Everyone received 10% off on services for the entire day. Services at Luxury Nails
include: manicures, pedicures and waxing.
Luxury Nails is not the only business to relocate from the
building at the corner of 107th & Gulf, and decide to remain on Treasure Island.
Johnny's Bait & Tackle moved its business a few doors down to 146 107th Ave, next
to the Chamber office. Luxury Nails

Clearwater
Marine Aquarium
Clearwater Aquarium Welcomed TI Chamber
In honor of our combined event ( Treasure Island October Beach
Fest on October 11th), CMA invited the TI Chamber to hold our September Mixer
at the aquarium.

On Friday, September 19th, Jody Armstrong, COO, welcomed Chamber members in
the Theater, renovated from an old, round marine tank. Jody spoke about the
aquarium's short-term expansion, which includes additional stranding pools for
rescued animals, and long-term vision. She also discussed CMA's work with sea
turtles - a benefactor of the Oct 11th event. As a gift, everyone received a
"Tampa Bay Tour of Turtles" Book full of turtle information and
artwork from the previous 'painted turtle' fundraiser.

Before taking a tour and watching the dolphin feeding, Volunteer of the Year
2006, Kevin Burke, told us the story of Winter
the dolphin and how they manage to get her into her prosthetic tail each
morning. Kevin was proud to point out that the world-wide coverage of Winter
has brought people from all over specifically to see the rescued dolphin. He
believes that all of the beach communities benefit from visitors from Great Britain
and elsewhere because CMA is a planned stop on their holiday.
Ann Clark, Director of Guest Services, describes the Turtle Watch process: placing cages over the nest to collect hatchlings so they aren't confused by waterfront lighting, how volunteers sit from 9pm-1am during expected hatch periods, ushering the hatch to the water, excavation of nests after the hatch and burying the nest remains back into the ground. CMA has a staff of only 25-30, and relies on the assistance of over 500
volunteers. Some of these volunteers have spent the last few months watching
over sea turtle nests up and down the Gulf Beaches, including Treasure
Island. After the event, a few of our own Chamber members signed
up with Dawn DeSantis, Volunteer Coordinator.
