You'll learn how to give empowering explanations of the most important moving energies used by professional astrologers: transits and secondary progressions. There will be no lectures; instead,
concepts will be taught by examining students' current transits and progressions.

You get 12 hours of live, lively, interactive online instruction for just $175 --
satisfaction guaranteed or your money back!

In both classes, students are welcome to try the first class free! Tuition is due only if the student chooses to continue.

Finally, Online Mentoring Class resumes Jan. 4, and will meet most Mondays from 3-5 pm US Eastern time. This class gives participants an opportunity to significantly deepen their understanding of astrology in an intimate small-group setting.

Classes are in a flexible Q&A format, with specific topics and chart examples contributed by the mentees.

And if group classes aren't your style, Benjamin always offers private mentoring to help you deepen your astrological wisdom.

The Astrology of a Challenging Christmas

by Benjamin Bernstein

When I forecast that we would be experiencing such challenging astrological energies around Christmas, I interpreted them in terms of human-to-human interactions. But, as many of us experienced, the most obvious effect of these aspects (including the Sun conjunct Pluto and square Saturn, Mercury turning retrograde and an imminent eclipse) was human versus nature!

Many of us had our Christmas plans hampered by massive snowfalls. In my own case, I had planned to travel from Asheville, NC to Oklahoma City to have Christmas with my family. But the universe threw one monkey wrench after another in my path. First my car broke down on the highway, causing me to miss my flight (the last one of the day). One new radiator later, I boarded the next available flight the next morning - a one-stop scheduled for Kansas City and then Oklahoma City.

We made it to Kansas City, only to have the Oklahoma City airport closed by a blizzard just as we were about to take off again. Everybody off the plane! Four of us Oklahoma City-bound passengers talked about renting a car together and driving there instead. However, I bailed on that idea after seeing on Weather.com that the blizzard would last all day and into the night, fueled by 50 mile-an-hour winds.

My decision to immediately turn around and fly back home was a good one, as it turned out. The closure of Oklahoma's interstates all that day and the next meant that I would never have reached Oklahoma City by car!

I felt especially bad for my sister Anna, who had flown in from Seattle before the blizzard hit hoping to spend time with her two brothers. Not only was I absent, but my older brother David - who can usually drive to my dad's house in 30 minutes - couldn't make it either because of the road closures.

There's a specialized branch of astrology called astrometeorology, which deals with long-term weather prediction based on planetary positions. (This is how the Old Farmer's Almanac is able to forecast the weather so far in advance.) While astrometeorology is not one of my specialties, the obvious correlation between our recent Christmas weather and the challenging transits of the time serve as an important reminder: everything on earth, including the weather, is affected by the movements of the planets!

Celestial Forecast for January 4-10, 2010
Green Zodiac
by Benjamin Bernstein

Whatever your sun sign, this forecast will help you choose how to best use the current astrological energies! Events are most powerful on the dates listed. However, their influence will be active for at least several days before and after. All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time zone.

While everyone is affected by these global transits, you will be most powerfully impacted when moving planets activate natal planets and other sensitive points in your birth chart.

VOID-OF-COURSE MOONS. It's best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during these times. "Business as usual" is the best strategy for these periods, which occur when the Moon has made its last major Ptolemaic aspect but has not yet moved into the next sign. Learn more about working with void-of-course Moons here.

1/5, 12:25 pm - 11:59 pm (Libra)
1/8, 1:08 am - 5:01 am (Scorpio)
1/10, 10:03 am - 1:11 pm (Sagittarius)

1/4 (Mon). With the Sun conjunct Mercury, learning and communication are strongly supported around the 4th. This is especially true in practical and business matters, since the conjunction is in Capricorn.
Inspiration in creativity and relationships is also supported by a Venus-Mars biquintile.

1/5 (Tue). Talking about relationship issues, as well as creative writing, are juiced by a Mercury-Venus conjunction.

1/6 (Wed). With Mercury quintile Uranus, pay special attention to your intuitive flashes.
You can give even the most pragmatic communications some creative flair today, with Mercury biquintile Leonine Mars.

1/7 (Thu). You may feel conflicting desires between workaholic productivity (Sun in Capricorn) and spontaneous playfulness (Mars in Leo). Thequincunx that connects them (adjustment required) doesn't make the balancing act any easier. Maybe you could get a good day's work in, then let your inner child out to play after supper?

1/8 (Fri). With Venus quincunx Mars, focus on positive adjustments in your important relationships. Making time for creative expression could open up a wellspring of inspiration.
Letting intuitive flashes lead directly to action is encouraged by a Mars-Uranus biquintile.
