Benjamin's UAC Lecture a Rousing Success
 Benjamin's May 17 Free Speech lecture on "Light Speed Astrology: Diving into the Heart of the Chart" at the UAC Conference in Denver went extremely well! An appreciative crowd packed the room, and three people came up to book consultations as soon as he finished. (Always a good sign!)
Benjamin expresses his gratitude to all those who attended his talk and made it such a positive experience for him. He will make an MP3 of the lecture available for sale soon -- watch our website for details!

Benjamin to Help Astrologers Succeed at 2009 OPA Retreat
 Benjamin is honored to have been asked to co-teach the "You: Successful Astrologer!" track at the 2009 annual retreat of OPA, the Organization for Professional Astrology. OPA President Bob Mulligan and Benjamin will teach both professional and aspiring astrologers how to achieve maximum success from their astrology practices. The retreat will take place April 15-19, 2009 at the Asilomar Conference Center on California's Monterey Peninsula.
OPA is the only organization that exists solely to help astrologers take their professional practices to the next level. Anyone who is serious about pursuing astrology professionally can benefit immensely from getting involved with this wonderful organization!

"This Week in Astrology": What Happened to Spiritsong?
 An announcement from Spiritsong for those who are not listening to "our" weekly podcast.
Well, it was "our" podcast for a few weeks.
Benjamin offered me the opportunity to be co-host of the This Week In Astrology podcast after my guest appearance on the show generated so much
positive feedback, and I accepted. It was fun and educational, and I was
thoroughly enjoying it! At the same time, my astrological counseling
practice was growing, and my healing work with clients was
expanding. It all felt very fulfilling.
But, in the middle of all this joyful pleasure, I kept
getting a persistent urge to start creating some music CD's I've had in
"gestation" for some time. It was my plan to begin this music
project after Molly, my youngest daughter, graduates from high school next year. So it was a surprise to feel such urgency start now.
When Benjamin and I decided to look and see why these nudges
kept getting more insistent, it was clear to us why I needed to turn my
attention to my music project now, rather than later. There were a number
of indicators, but some of the strongest were transiting Neptune opposing my
natal Venus, and transiting North Node and Jupiter both visiting my fifth house
of creativity at the same time!
So, with mixed feelings, but clear guidance, I have resigned
as co-host of the podcast, and am not currently taking new astrology
clients. I will continue working with my current clients, and will pop in
as a guest co-host on the podcast occasionally. I cannot keep my
fingers out of the astrology pie completely, but it is definitely on the
"back burner" while I crank up the heat on the music burner
(pun intended!). I'll let you know when there are new developments to
share!

Celestial Forecast for June 2008

Whatever your sun sign, this forecast will help you choose how to best use each month's astrological energies! Events are most powerful on the dates listed. However, their influence will be active for at least several days before and after. All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time zone.
While everyone is affected by these global transits, you will be most powerfully impacted when moving planets activate natal planets and other sensitive points in your birth chart.
VOID-OF-COURSE MOONS. It's best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during these times. "Business as usual" is the best strategy for these periods, which occur when the Moon has made its last major Ptolemaic aspect but has not yet moved into the next sign.

6/1 (Sun). With Mercury quintile Saturn, it's a great time to do creative brainstorming around new business ventures or other substantive accomplishments. Learning and communications of all kinds are well-supported.
 6/3 (Tue). June's NEW MOON lines up at 13°34' Gemini at 3:22 pm. New Moons are normally ideal for new beginnings, but this energy of initiation is compromised because Gemini's ruler, Mercury, is retrograde thru 6/19 at 10:31 a.m. And by then, we'll be in a Full Moon phase. This doesn't necessarily mean you can't kick off New Moon plans - just don't expect them to go as you anticipated. (It can be highly educational to observe Mercury Retrograde's effects firsthand!)
Whatever your decision, the fact remains that this New Moon bears a striking Sabian Symbol*: "Bridging physical space and social distinctions, two men communicate telepathically." Its keynote is, "The capacity to transcend the limitations of bodily existence." How perfect that this comes up during Mercury Retrograde, since Mercury is about communication and retrogrades can mark a turn within into the deeper, more hidden realms of reality. So there's at least one New Moon goal you can make: try an ESP experiment with a friend!
6/4 (Wed). Anticipate a nice energy boost with the Sun sextile Mars today. With these planets in Gemini and Leo, it can also be a good time to step into the spotlight and strut your stuff!
6/5 (Thu). Today's Sun-Jupiter biquintile is subtle, but can be inspirational for writing and other forms of self-expression.
6/6 (Fri). Venus, now right on the Sun's coattails, makes the same biquintile to Jupiter today that the Sun made yesterday. With this combination, look for inspiration in the realms of relationships and creativity. Communication with your beloved is also positively supported.
But there's more good news: the lovers' planets, Venus and Mars, make a flowing sextile today. This also bodes well for harmonious interactions with your sweetheart.
6/7 (Sat). It's a double conjunction day, with Mercury giving quick kisses to the Sun and Venus as it reverses through Gemini. These link-ups are generally good for learning, writing, and teaching, and ideal for reflection on self-concept, relationships and creative expression.

Highlights From UAC
 Benjamin's Impressions
The 2008 UAC Astrology Conference was a truly mind-expanding experience for Spiritsong and me. We were privileged to hear lectures by many of the world's leading astrologers, and we both came home with our knowledge of astrology considerably deepened.
My favorite lecturers included:
- Rob Hand, the witty, urbane and most genial genius who masterfully integrates ancient Medieval and Hellenistic techniques with modern counseling modalities,
- Noel Tyl, who milks his outsize ego for entertainment value while passing on valuable nuggets of astrological wisdom,
- Caroline Casey, whose room-saturating shamanic power, rapid-fire speech, and passion to accelerate humanity's much-needed evolution were deeply inspiring,
- Martin Davis, whose lucid insights helped take my understanding of relocational astrology to a new level,
- Dorothy Oja, whose presentation on the Davison Relationship Chart gave me a powerful new tool for couples work,
- Christine Arens, whose incredibly information-packed hour on eclipses synthesized my practical understanding of their use and importance like never before,
- Jane Ridder-Patrick, who significantly expanded my understanding of medical astrology, and
- Bob Mulligan, whose talk on "Timing Spiritual Transformations" was not only informative and personally revealing but something of a transformation unto itself!

Spiritsong's Impressions
There is no way to adequately describe the exhilarating feelings
generated by the collective energy of over one thousand astrologers in
one location! We reveled in seven days of top quality education from
some of the most brilliant minds in the field of astrology.
It felt like this to me: imagine going to a buffet with 15 items to choose from. But this is no ordinary fare. Every two hours throughout the day, a new buffet is served, with 15 dishes prepared by 15 different chefs, offering their finest gourmet presentations! You can only choose one item but you get to go to a new buffet five times each day!
These presentations, were, of course, a feast for the
mind and spirit, not for the body. But the hardest part was in the
choosing. Never mind that I'm a Libra sun, and all the jokes about
Libras trying to make a decision! There were hundreds of people doing
the same thing: vacillating between agony and ecstasy as we tried to
make the best choice for ourselves out of each collection of the finest
possibilities imaginable!
As did Benjamin, I came home from the
conference in Denver excited by all the new insights and information I
had gleaned. I also share his great appreciation for presentations given by Caroline Casey and
Noel Tyl, among others.
One of my favorites was a lecture
given by Barbara Schermer on the new planet, Sedna. The creative way
she presented the information made Sedna come alive for me
in a very powerful way. I look forward to learning more, and using
Sedna in my consultations with clients. I am already aware of her
presence in my own chart now.
Closing Thoughts
Of course, there was
more - the amazing people who attended, the special evening events, the
wonderful restaurants along downtown Denver's delightful pedestrian
mall - but we've probably said enough. Suffice it to say that it was a
once-in-a-lifetime experience - one that we hope to
repeat (at least to some degree) at the next UAC in 2012!

Asheville Lecture Rescheduled for Sept. 23
 Benjamin's lecture on "Light Speed Astrology: Diving into the Heart of the Chart" has been rescheduled for presentation to the Asheville Friends of Astrology on Tue., Sept. 23 at 7 pm. He was unable to lecture as scheduled on May 27 due to an SVM (Speaking Voice Malfunction), and is deeply grateful to Gary Caton for lecturing in his place.
