Celestial Forecast for February 2008
Green Zodiac

by Benjamin Bernstein

Whatever your sun sign, this forecast will help you choosea how to best use each month's astrological energies! Events are most powerful on the dates listed. However, their influence will be active for at least several days before and after. All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time zone.

While everyone is affected by these global transits, you will be most powerfully impacted when moving planets activate natal planets and other sensitive points in your birth chart.

2/1. What luckier way to open the month than with the two classic benefics - Venus and Jupiter - conjoining? Beyond the general vibe of good fortune, this conjunction also speaks of good fortune in relationship, expanded creativity, and - because they're coming together in Capricorn - good financial and business prospects as well. Make hay while the sun shines!

2/2. Turn your mind to meditation or creative receptivity as Mercury conjuncts Neptune today. Rational thought processes can get a bit fuzzy with this combination, so err on the side of intuitive decision-making instead. Since this conjunction is in Aquarius, a flash or two of inspiration isn't out of the question either!

2/4. Venus, still closely conjunct lucky Jupiter (see 2/1), trines Ceres today. Venus and Ceres can both represent things of value - including money and self-esteem - so you have support in both of these areas today!

2/5. Today's Sun-Chiron conjunction gives you the opportunity to shine light into any of the following areas: childhood wounds, mentorship given or received, alternative healing or fine-tuning. Pick any or all!

2/6. Today's ANNULAR SOLAR ECLIPSE (visible in part of Australia, all of New Zealand and most of Antarctica), which is also a NEW MOON, hits at 18° Aquarius today. The New Moon is at 10:43 p.m. US Eastern time, while the eclipse peaks a few minutes later at 10:55 p.m.
New Moon eclipses are much more powerful than ordinary New Moons. Anyone can use this Aquarian New Moon for new beginnings in individuation, humanitarianism and scientific or technical endeavors, or for letting their "freak flag" fly more proudly.
For additional insights into how you can optimize this energy, examine your natal chart to see which house the eclipse is in, and what sensitive points around 18° Aquarius, Leo, Taurus or Scorpio are being affected by it.
The Sun and Mercury also cross paths today. This should help to sharpen up your brain and burn away any mental fog that may have been caused by the Mercury-Neptune conjunction on 2/2!
Finally, today's Venus-Uranus sextile may help open you to fresh insights on how to make relationships more grounded or productive, and/or how to make some money!

2/7. Two completely different aspects give a similar message today. You can use both the Mars-Saturn quintile and the Mercury-Chiron conjunction to give strong, consistent energy to learning, writing, teaching and other forms of communication.

2/10. Ah yes - the annual conjunction of the Sun and Neptune. A magnificent time for dissolving into the union of Divine Bliss, or receiving the creative bounty of the Muse! Focusing in these areas will also keep you from being pulled into Neptune's darker side: negative escapism such as overuse of drugs or alcohol, or zoning out with too much TV, sex, food or Internet!

2/13. imagine one of those flashing signs on the highway lit up with the following message: RELATIONSHIPS & CREATIVITY <blink> ADJUSTMENT REQUIRED. That's the basic message of today's Venus-Mars quincunx. Challenging though this 150° angle can be, it also offers great rewards. If you're able to make the required adjustment, you can create a magical connection with your beloved or your Muse!

2/14. So here it is, the one day of the year specifically devoted to romance (in the USA, at least). And who better to represent Cupid's arrow then the arrow-pointed glyph of Mars? The ruler of Aries also represents the passionate fire of love, and he gains additional energy today from his easy-flowing trine to the Sun. if you successfully negotiated whatever issues might have come up yesterday (see 2/13), you could well be set up for a very passionate Valentine's Day!

2/17. Venus enters Aquarius today through 3/12. It's a good time to strive for true equality in relationship, as well as experimenting with relationship structures outside the norm. Finding your true, one-of-a-kind creative vision can also be easier during this time.

2/18. MERCURY GOES DIRECT late today at 9:58 p.m. US Eastern time, clearing at least one obstacle to the initiation of major new projects. (To ensure optimal timing of important new initiatives, be sure to consult your astrologer!)
Just to add creative inspiration to whatever you're kicking off, a GOLDEN YOD peaks today. This magical aspect pattern lasts the 16th thru the 19th, and features Mars and Saturn focusing their composite "Energizer Bunny" energy onto Venus. See the 2/17 entry to see what Venusian opportunities the Golden yod is enhancing!

2/19. The Sun enters Pisces at 1:49 a.m. US Eastern time, where it will remain until it enters Aries on March 20. Until then, the Sun radiates the energy of the poet, the mystic and the dreamer. Your ability to access the realms beyond the physical plane -- be they spiritual or creative -- is enhanced. In the grand archetypal scheme, Pisces is the optimal time to receive visions. You can then put them into action under the initiating power of Aries.

2/20. Eclipses typically come in pairs two weeks apart, which is why today's TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE follows so close behind the Solar Eclipse on the 6th. This eclipse, at 2° Virgo, will be visible throughout most of the Americas as well as western Europe. The eclipse is exact at 10:26 p.m. US Eastern time, immediately followed by the FULL MOON at 10:31 p.m.
Full Moons are time to take stock of how you're doing -- in this case, in the areas of service, detail work, health and daily habits. Because of the eclipse, the downstream effects of the adjustments you make now will have unusually powerful ramifications.
For additional insights into how you can optimize this eclipse energy, examine your natal chart to see which house the eclipse is in, and what sensitive points around 2° Virgo, Pisces, Gemini or Sagittarius are being aspected by it.

2/21. It's time for another reality check on relationships and creativity as Venus quincunxes Saturn. With Venus in Aquarius, keep your feelers out for solutions to problems that you haven't tried before!

2/24. It's easy to space out a bit with the Sun in Pisces, but today's Sun-Saturn opposition should help bring you back to Earth. This aspect embodies the energy of the Law of Attraction -- the Sun in Pisces (visualization, imagination) opposing Saturn (physical manifestation) -- so it's a great time to focus on creating the reality you desire. Just be sure to do something -- Saturn supports and energizes hard work, but can weigh you down with melancholy or depression when left unharnessed!

2/26. It's a great day for one-on-one communication with Mercury conjunct Venus. Creative writing and harmonious thinking are also well supported.

Relationship Insights Through Astrology
 happy couple
With Valentine's Day just around the corner, we're all thinking more about relationships. We prefer to idealize romantic love at this time of year, but the fact is that relationships can be downright challenging - even for the best of us.

How can you tell if the person you're feeling so magnetically attracted to would be a good long-term partner? How can you gain the insights that will help you bring more harmony into an existing relationship? How can you tell whether a certain relationship issue is going to be permanent, or just temporary?

Astrology can address these relationship questions, and many more. Synastry (the astrology of relationships and compatibility) takes a detailed, objective look at the precise ways in which two people's energies interact.

The benefits of doing this can be profound. One of my clients called me a few weeks after a synastry session. She told me that the session had "dramatically improved our relationship. I understand my husband so much better now!"

One of the most common insights gained from a synastry consultation goes something like this: "Oh, my partner isn't doing that just to make me miserable - it's just the way they are!" My favorite definition of suffering is "the difference between reality as it is, and reality as we wish it to be." Gaining a deeper appreciation for your partner's fundamental archetypal energies can help you accept them as they are, rather than making futile attempts to change them. This alone can relieve a tremendous amount of relationship stress!

If a challenging issue has recently surfaced, we can also discover what passing transit is triggering it. Then we can see when the issue will peak, when it will end, and what possible life lessons are being offered by the experience.

Synastry isn't just for romantic partnerships, either. I've also had clients use it to gain valuable insights into their relationships with their children, parents, friends, and business associates.

We'd love to help you gain insight into any important relationship in your life. Click here for more information.
Online Mentoring Class Starts March 27

headset ladyI'm very excited to announce that my first online mentoring class will begin soon! It will give participants an opportunity to significantly deepen their understanding of astrology in an intimate small-group setting. The investment for tuition is much less than the cost of my individual mentoring sessions, and participants won't even have to leave home!

Classes will focus on the areas were many astrology students tend to get stuck: how to blend natal planets, signs, houses and aspects into a clear, accurate and helpful interpretation. We will also frequently discuss how to most productively partner with the energies of the moving planets (transits, progressions and solar arcs).

Participation will be limited to 10 people at a time, and mentees must already have a good understanding of the planets, signs and houses. (Click here for information on two excellent books that will teach you the basics.)

Classes will be in a flexible Q&A format, with specific topics and chart examples contributed by the mentees. Benjamin will ensure that, over time, each student will have fair input into what the class covers. Since there is no specific syllabus, new students are welcome to join as space becomes available.

The audio portion of the class will be via Skype conference call, while the visuals will be displayed on a special website. The site will display my computer screen in real time so that participants will be able to see all the charts we're discussing (static and animated), as well other helpful images. (The Skype window will also carry my video image in real time.) No software purchases are required to participate; all students will need is a computer with a high-speed Internet connection, a PC headset, a free Skype account and an open browser.

The class will be held weekly on Thursday nights from 8-10 p.m. US Eastern time starting March 27. Payment for each month of classes, by credit card or PayPal, will be required in advance at the rate of $20 per two-hour class. I will keep a waiting list, and will open additional sections as needed to meet demand.

All students' tuition investments are protected by the It's All Good Astrology guarantee: if you do not find the classes to be genuinely helpful, you will receive a full refund of that month's tuition.

If you'd like to participate in the Thursday 8 p.m. class, or request a spot in a different future section that would fit your schedule better, please  call 828-658-9073 or 800-461-3569, or e-mail me at info@ItsAllGoodAstrology.com. I'm looking forward to an exciting, stimulating and enlightening series of classes!

What Sign Will My True Love Be?

Boy, do I get asked this one a lot! I'm having a conversation with someone who knows I'm an astrologer, the subject of romance arises, and they ask, "What sign should I look for?"

If only it was that easy! The Sun sign is always an important factor in any person's chart, but it's rarely the most relevant for romance. Venus, which carries relationship as a core part of her archetypal energy, is usually much more important. For women, Mars represents an essential part of the energy of her romantic partner, and Saturn and the Sun can also be worth a look. For men, I might look not only at Venus but also at the Moon. For each of these planets, I would also consider its sign, house and aspects.

And that's just the beginning. When describing a person's ideal long-term partner from their own natal chart, it's also essential to look at the signs ruling the seventh and eighth houses, the rulers of those signs, and any planets in those houses. And that doesn't even factor in the critically important natal aspects between all these planets. And don't even get me started talking about the transiting and progressing planets that might be temporarily stimulating everything we've been talking about so far!

Is your head spinning yet? I hope not because, believe it or not, even that isn't the whole story. When looking for compatibility between two people, I take all the natal factors discussed so far and cross-correlate them between both charts. The "moment we've all been waiting for" of a relationship consultation is a deep analysis of a 256-box grid which shows how all of one person's planets and sensitive points interact with those of their current or potential partner.

Bottom line: relationship astrology, like relationships, is complicated. The question of what astrological energies a person should seek in their ideal partner can never be boiled down just to a Sun sign. in fact, considering only the Sun sign could cause you to weed out someone who might, when all the astrological energies are factored in, turn out to be a virtually perfect match!

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not dissing Sun sign astrology. Heck, I feel very fortunate to be able to write a triannual Sun sign column for Aquarius Magazine, and send my sincere blessings to all the other Sun sign writers who do so much to keep astrology alive in the public mind. But, since any statement about a Sun sign has to be true for 1/12 of the world's population, one has to stay very general when working at this level. And, since one has to do the opposite when seeking a life partner - move from the general to the minutely specific -- working only from a Sun sign doesn't tell you enough to even start making a decision!

So if you're going to use astrology to help you choose a partner, be sure to learn enough about the numerous relationship factors in your own chart to do it properly. Otherwise, you're really better off consulting with an astrologer who already knows the ropes.

Or, if all else fails, you can always follow your heart.
