UCCD Welcomes Kaitlin Spas, Program Director

 

Kaitlin SpasA native of Utah, Kaitlin Spas graduated with a Master's in Public Diplomacy from the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism, with an emphasis in trade and corporate diplomacy. During her studies, she served as an intern at the Consulate General of Mexico in Los Angeles. She is also a founding member of the Public Diplomacy Corps, a nonprofit organization designed to bring people together to exchange ideas, culture and education for global change. Before joining the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, she was a marketing coordinator for Salt Lake Community College's newly formed green jobs program.

 

As Program Director, Kaitlin is committed to advancing global understanding and respect between the people of Utah and other nations by creating rewarding professional and cultural programs for guests of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program. Her own exchange experiences include a year in the Arctic as an AFS exchange student in Finland, and a travel-study program in Germany as an undergraduate student. She is proud to say that she has seen a performance in every opera house in Berlin! Her love of travel has most recently taken her on a two-week trip to Thailand.

UCCD Bids Farewell to Audrey Anderson

 

Audrey AndersonAfter a year and a half as UCCD's Program Director, our friend and colleague, Audrey Anderson, will be leaving the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy to work in the Division of Advancement for her alma mater, Loyola University Chicago. As a newcomer to the world of international professional programming, Audrey's achievements are remarkable. We are very proud of her accomplishments and the positive impact that her work has had at home and around the world. We take this opportunity to express our appreciation for her many contributions to the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, and our flagship program, the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership Program.

SLCC Seeks Summer Host Families

Salt Lake Community College This summer, Salt Lake Community College is looking for Host Families in the Downtown and Taylorsville areas of the Salt Lake Valley. Students from Shitennoji International Buddhist University in Osaka, Japan will be attending SLCC's South City and Taylorsville Redwood campuses from May 9 to August 9, 2011.

This is an exciting opportunity to positively impact the life of young men and women and make their stay in Utah unforgettable. Families will be compensated for full stay ($450/month).
