Madison Spere, a Westminster College student and a contributor to the schools' newspaper, The Forum, recently wrote an article featuring the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy entitled, "UCCD forging international relationships, raising global consciousness."
"Students interested in shaping foreign relations in the United States can learn more about their role as diplomats through the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy (UCCD), located on the Westminster campus. UCCD is guided by the principle of Citizen Diplomacy - the concept that the individual citizen has the right, even the responsibility, to help shape U.S. foreign relations, "one handshake at a time." SLC Public Library Guest Writer Series: Michael OndaatjeTuesday, March 29, 2011, 7:00 p.m., SLC Main Library Auditorium Michael Ondaatje is the author of the Booker Prize-winning novel, The English Patient, which was adapted into an Academy Award-winning film. He is also the author of several volumes of prose and poetry, including The Collected Works of Billy the Kid, Coming Through Slaughter, and Running in the Family.
This reading will be simulcast on KCPW FM 88.3. On Wednesday, March 30,at 3:30 p.m., in Room 109 of the Carolyn Tanner Irish Building at the University of Utah, Ondaatje will give a free public lecture about the current state of fiction. That evening, the public is invited to join Ondaatje at the SLC Main Library Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. to discuss the making of the film The English Patient.
