Global I.Q. with The Economist
Tuesday, February 22, 2011, 9 AM Special Report: Feeding the WorldFeaturing John Parker, Globalisation Correspondent, The Economist
The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy (UCCD), in partnership with the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth (WACDFW), invites you to join a monthly online audiocast that connects you with journalists of The Economist magazine and allows you to learn and ask questions about pressing global issues. This program is offered free of charge to UCCD members. Not a member yet? Register as a UCCD member online. The world is approaching a food crisis. Between now and 2050, the world population will rise from 6.9 billion to 9 billion and demand for food will roughly double. As people get richer, they will want to eat increasing amounts of meat, yet agricultural yields have been flat or barely rising for decades. The Economist's special report "Feeding the World" will consider how that growing demand can be met, how much more land and water is really available, and whether higher prices and increased price volatility are inevitable. For more information and to register, please visit our website.
Global I.Q. with The Economist is a program created by the World Affairs Council of Dallas Fort/Worth (WACDFW), and sponsored by Texas Capital Bank, in association with The Economist, and in cooperation with the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA).
