Terrorist Financing:
The War Behind the War on Terror
John Cassara, Former CIA Case Officer & Treasury Special Agent

Money is a necessary ingredient for terrorist organizations. Simply put, both the legal and illegal flow of funds strengthens terrorist organizations. Unfortunately, years after the September 11 attacks, despite a variety of initiatives, countermeasures, regulations, and reorganizations, there is no doubt that terrorist networks retain access to hidden financial sources and can move and transfer both money and value to finance the next terrorist plot. Former Federal Intelligence Officer, John Cassara, gives the concerned and curious citizen one public servant's perspective on what "it is really like out there." Learn more.

This lecture is presented as part of the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy's Ambassador John Price and Marcia Price World Affairs Lecture Series, in partnership with Westminster College's Weldon J. Taylor Executive Lecture Series and American Express.
All lectures are free and open to the public, and held in the Vieve Gore Concert Hall at Westminster College.

Global I.Q. with The Economist

Tuesday, February 22, 2011, 9 AMGlobal I.Q.
Special Report: Feeding the World
Featuring John Parker,
Globalisation Correspondent,
The Economist

The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy (UCCD), in partnership with the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth (WACDFW), invites you to join a monthly online audiocast that connects you with journalists of The Economist magazine and allows you to learn and ask questions about pressing global issues. This program is offered free of charge to UCCD members. Not a member yet? Register as a UCCD member online.

The world is approaching a food crisis. Between now and 2050, the world population will rise from 6.9 billion to 9 billion and demand for food will roughly double. As people get richer, they will want to eat increasing amounts of meat, yet agricultural yields have been flat or barely rising for decades. The Economist's special report "Feeding the World" will consider how that growing demand can be met, how much more land and water is really available, and whether higher prices and increased price volatility are inevitable. For more information and to register, please visit our website.

Global I.Q. with The Economist is a program created by the World Affairs Council of Dallas Fort/Worth (WACDFW), and sponsored by Texas Capital Bank, in association with The Economist, and in cooperation with the World Affairs Councils of America (WACA).

WorldAffairs 2011

WorldAffairs 2011The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, in partnership with the World Affairs Council of Northern California, invites you to join a national webcast on WorldAffairs 2011: Challenges to American Power with keynote speakers Robert Reich, Fareed Zakaria, and Dr. James Zogby on March 18-19, 2011. This program is offered free of charge to UCCD members. Not a member yet? Register as a UCCD member online.

Global economic crisis, regional conflicts, energy and environmental security - all present significant challenges to American power. At WorldAffairs 2011, participants will explore the challenges that we face as a society and as a leader in the global community, as well as the choices we can make as informed citizens to forge a path forward. For more information and access to the conference channel, please visit our website.
