On Friday, October 29, tune in to this month's Global I.Q. with The Economist on International Business Hotspots. Then, join us at noon for a Global Lunch Forum featuring three Visiting Fulbright Students who will discuss some of the existing social issues faced in their countries, and how they will address them when they return home. Attend the November 9 lecture on The Iranian Enigma: Nuclear Pariah or Global Energy Resource? featuring Salt Lake City-born Roxane Farmanfarmaian, PhD.

Since 2008, the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy has partnered with Westminster College's Diversity & International Center to provide exchange students an opportunity to experience Home Hospitality.
Respond to Secretary of State Clinton's call to action by hosting Westminster's international students for dinner and conversation, and contribute to making their stay in Utah unforgettable.

How it works
Individual students or groups of up to 4 students will be assigned to you. Once assigned, you will receive information about your guests. On the assigned date, you will pick up your guests at 6 p.m. at Westminster College's Circle in front of Converse Hall (Admissions) on the east side of campus off of 1300 East and return them to campus at 9 p.m.

These emerging leaders will discuss some of the existing social issues faced in their countries, and how they will address them when they return home. Bring your own lunch (cookies, tea, and coffee provided), and join the "global conversation" by sharing your views and questions!

Iran's vast oil and gas wealth, and unpredictable government, make it a wily and increasingly powerful force in a highly unsettled region. Can Iran trigger a nuclear arms race in the Middle East or affect the global balance of power through its energy-based friendships with China and its neighbors, Iraq and Afghanistan? Learn more.
This lecture is presented as part of the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy's Ambassador John Price and Marcia Price World Affairs Lecture Series, in partnership with Westminster College's Weldon J. Taylor Executive Lecture Series and American Express. All lectures are free and open to the public, and held in the Vieve Gore Concert Hall at Westminster College.

Internships in Citizen Diplomacy
The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy is now accepting applications for the Spring 2010 Internship program. The available internship positions are Program Associate Intern and Communications/Public Relations Intern. UCCD is seeking enthusiastic, outgoing individuals with excellent communication skills in English, the ability to work independently, and a passion for contributing to global understanding. Application deadline is Friday, December 3, 2010. Interviews with successful first-round candidates will be conducted the week of December 6-10, 2010. The National Council for International Visitors (NCIV) - UCCD is a proud member of NCIV - is now accepting applications for the Spring 2011 Internship program. The spring internships begin in January of 2011, but NCIV will be conducting interviews and making hiring decisions on a rolling basis beginning at the end of October. The final date to apply is December 15, 2010. To apply for this internship, please email in a single Microsoft Word document a cover letter detailing your interest in citizen diplomacy and your internship objectives, a resume, a 2-4 page writing sample (on the topic of your choice), and contact information for two references to Edward Thompson at ethompson@nciv.org. For the first three months of 2010, Dr. Schmidt worked for the World Council of Churches' Ecumenical Accompaniment Program in Palestine/Israel (EAPPI), accompanying Palestinian families and individuals in their daily life, as well as Israeli peace activists in their struggle for democracy and efforts to end the occupation.
