Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy:
An Organization Spotlight

US Center for Citizen Diplomacy The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy (UCCD) asked you to share your experiences in Citizen Diplomacy and you responded!

As part of the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy's "Share Your Story" campaign, UCCD submitted your experiences shaping U.S. foreign relations "one handshake at a time." Many of you invited participants in the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program, administered locally by UCCD, to their home for dinner and conversation, and directly impacted the reputation and standing of the United States abroad. Among them, Lynn and DeAnna DeBry, longtime members and supporters of the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy, tell about the international solidarity felt in the initial days after September 11, 2001, in a story titled, "Brothers and Sisters Throughout the World".

Visit the U.S. Center for Citizen Diplomacy's website and read about the organization spotlight.

Special thanks to Lynn and DeAnna DeBry, Thom and Shirley Rossa, Jonathon Tichy, Lori Harding, Rosemary Baron, Mary Dickson, Denice Wheeler, and Howard Lehman for sending us their inspiring stories.

. Salt Lake City. "On July 8th and 9th, I had the privilege of accompanying a group of International Visitors, participants in the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program, administered locally by the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy. This group was from all corners of the globe, hailing from Chile, Guatemala, India, Kosovo, Lebanon, Lesotho, and Pakistan, and traveled to Utah to examine "Cultural Heritage Preservation."

As part of their professional program, the Visitors met with representatives of the Utah Heritage Foundation, Westminster College's Great Salt Lake Institute, and toured the Kearns (Utah Governor's) Mansion, the LDS Church History Museum and Library, and historic Temple Square. They also had an opportunity to visit Antelope Island State Park, and participate in Home Hospitality. I had the privilege of attending two meetings." Continue reading.
