Impact: From the Front Lines of Global Health
Ms. Karen Kasmauski, National Geographic Photographer
For the last 10 years, Karen Kasmauski has captured on film the personal side of numerous global health crises: AIDS, malnutrition, and immunization. In this sweeping view of the human condition, Ms. Kasmauski finds the personal stories behind the headlines, blending a warm human sensitivity with a photographer's eye for detail to distill global issues into resonant images. This lecture is presented as part of the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy's Ambassador John Price & Marcia Price World Affairs Lecture Series, in partnership with Westminster College and the American Express Weldon J. Taylor Executive Lecture Series. All lectures are free and open to the public, and held in the Vieve Gore Concert Hall at Westminster College.

New Face in the Community Relations Branch
UCCD is pleased to welcome Diane Crow to her interim role as the National Council for International Visitors (NCIV)/Council for International Visitors (CIV) [UCCD is a CIV]
Liaison in the U.S. Department of State Office of International Visitors
Community Relations Branch. Ms. Crow recently returned to the Office of
International Visitors from a temporary assignment coordinating public
diplomacy efforts for a Provincial Reconstruction Team in Mosul, Iraq. She is also a part time Program Officer in the Voluntary Visitors Division.

>Facing the Mountains: Breakthroughs to New Racial Landscapes by Dr. Shakti Butler January 21, 2010, 7:30 p.m., Vieve Gore Concert Hall, Westminster College
As part of the 2009-2010 Bastian Foundation Diversity Lecture Series, Dr. Shakti Butler, Documentary Film Producer & Director, will discuss how she uses documentary film and dialogue groups as vehicles for addressing and working to eliminate racism, sexism, classism and homophobia. Dr. Butler has directed and produced documentaries such as The Way Home, Light in the Shadows, and Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible. Butler also created and implemented a national public dialogue program - Heart-to-Heart Conversations - aimed at facilitating learning and sharing about race and culture while she was the executive director of World Trust Educational Services.
