27th Vivaldi by Candlelight - A Benefit Concert
 Reaching any laudable goal requires great vision and great determination. To fulfill a worthy mission, a community must be willing to make a committed stand and encourage others to follow.
For 47 years, the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy (UCCD), with the support of scores of Utah "Citizen Diplomats", has worked to foster global understanding and respect between the people of Utah and other nations.

Secretary Clinton Emphasizes the Important Role of the IVLP
November 9, 2009. Berlin, Germany.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton joined Chancellor Angela Merkel and other dignitaries in Germany to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall 20 years earlier. During a visit to the U.S. Embassy, Secretary Clinton thanked the Embassy staff for its engagement "not only with representatives of the German Government, but [with] civil society, business leaders, teachers, students, ordinary Germans." In doing so, she emphasized the important role of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) in promoting peace. "I would like to see us redouble our efforts, particularly reaching out to young Germans, and particularly those from the east, to build a strong foundation of understanding and respect." Internship Opportunity in Citizen Diplomacy
has 2 openings in New York City for its Spring Term Internship, which runs from January to May 2010. BDA is a private-sector led initiative aimed at mobilizing the US business community for public diplomacy efforts. An internship with BDA provides a unique and dynamic experience unlike any other. Interns with BDA are challenged on a daily basis to work independently on a variety of BDA efforts and initiatives, as well as interact and work directly with a diverse board of senior global executives. >2009 Trees of Diversity Nov 20 - Jan 4, Utah Cultural Celebration Center, West Valley City
The Utah Cultural Celebration Center, for the past six years, has featured a holiday tree exhibit in the Celebration Gallery. The purpose of this exhibit is to bring the community together in the celebration of various holiday traditions not only from different countries but also from different religious backgrounds and various family or community traditions. The tree is used as a symbol of friendship and to display the art and artifacts representing the richness of community traditions.
Trees of Diversity 2009 will have over 50 trees and holiday scenes created by various community and ethnic groups.

>Facing the Mountains: Breakthroughs to New Racial Landscapes by Dr. Shakti Butler January 21, 2010, 7:30 p.m., Vieve Gore Concert Hall, Westminster College
As part of the 2009-2010 Bastian Foundation Diversity Lecture Series, Dr. Shakti Butler, Documentary Film Producer & Director, will discuss how she uses documentary film and dialogue groups as vehicles for addressing and working to eliminate racism, sexism, classism and homophobia. Dr. Butler has directed and produced documentaries such as The Way Home, Light in the Shadows, and Mirrors of Privilege: Making Whiteness Visible. Butler also created and implemented a national public dialogue program - Heart-to-Heart Conversations - aimed at facilitating learning and sharing about race and culture while she was the executive director of World Trust Educational Services.
