Meet UCCD's Summer Interns
This Summer, UCCD is pleased to welcome three Westminster College students to serve as Interns in the International Visitor Leadership Program and act as ambassadors for the organization on campus and in the community. Interns are critical to UCCD and contribute hard work and dedication while learning new skills. We are deeply grateful for their service. Please make sure to add intern@utahdiplomacy.org (appears as UCCD Intern) to your list of contacts.
Feli Anne Hipol is a senior studying Communication at Westminster College and is the Communications Intern for the Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy. She's a native of Utah and enjoys the various activities of all four seasons. Her hobbies include writing, singing, dancing, and laughing. After she graduates this December, she hopes to find a career in the Communications department of a nonprofit organization.
Jeremy Reynoso serves as Program Associate Intern in the International Visitor Leadership Program. He was raised in a bilingual household (English/Spanish). He enjoys everything outdoors and is an active community volunteer. It is his goal to support the growth of his community by promoting understanding of cultural diversity. He is currently working towards a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and Latin American studies at Westminster College.
Like Jeremy, Erica Schoenefeld serves as Program Associate Intern in the International Visitor Leadership Program. She is working toward a Bachelors of Arts in International Business from Westminster College and expects to graduate in December of 2009. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, Erica loves to spend her free time seeing the world with her husband, who is a German citizen. In addition to taveling in Utah and the U.S., they visit Germany at least once a year to spend time with their family. Erica likes to listen to music, watch movies, and eat yummy food with her friends. She wants to work for a green-collar company with strong international ties or possibly the U.S. Embassy in Germany. |

"Each small step towards understanding leads to another. And UCCD is a powerful catalyst toward that important end."
- Dr. Michael Bassis, President, Westminster College
Salt Lake City - Last week on our campus, I had the privilege of talking at length with a group of nine educators from Saudi Arabia who were visiting Salt Lake to learn about how private and public higher education is carried out in the U.S. As the president of Utah's only private, independent college or university, I was asked to contrast the mission, values and operating principles of my institution with what they had already learned about these issues from representatives of several religiously affiliated and public colleges and universities in Utah. Simultaneous translation enabled us to engage in a lively and wide-ranging conversation. Continue reading. |
