International Visitor Snapshot : I-VOTE
As part of the US Department of State's "I-VOTE" (International Visitors Observe The Elections) program, a special, two-week project organized within the framework of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), 100 Election Fellows visiting the United States to observe the U.S. political system during the final countdown to Election Day 2008.
On November 3 and 4, 2008, UCCD welcomed two I-VOTE Fellows, Dr. Han Xi CHEN, Vice Dean, School of Legal Studies, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies from China and Mr. Said SANADIKI, Executive Director, Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections to Utah to observe the U.S. political process and experience election results [pictured with Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon and Deputy Mayor Karen Okabe]. Carol, a twelve-year-old Spanish-American girl from New York, travels with her mother to Spain in the spring of 1938, at the height of the Spanish Civil War. Separated from her beloved father who is fighting in the International Brigade, Carol arrives in her mother's village and transforms the secretive family environment.
