Hosts Needed for Burundi Film Center Founder & Students

Salt Lake City - Interested in engaging more globally with youth? Passionate about progressive education and the arts? Wish to attend the SLC Film Center's New Face of Africa Film Series? If you answered YES to most of these questions, read on! The Utah Council for Citizen Diplomacy is partnering with the SLC Film Center to arrange Home Hospitality for six visitors from Burundi as part of their New Face of Africa Film Series (June 9-16). The Burundi Film Center (BFC) was launched as a non-profit media development project in the summer of 2007 under a mandate to "Inspire. Educate. Entertain." The founder of the Burundi Film Center and five students will collaborate on a film with students from Spy Hop Productions during their stay. The film will be screened on Monday, June 16 at the Main Library at 7pm along with five short films produced in Burundi. The students are fluent in Kirundi and/or French, and have conversational English. Japanese Tech Commercialization Experts Benchmark With Utah Proponents
Salt Lake City - A delegation of Japanese experts in technology commercialization recently visited Utah as guests of the Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) and came away impressed with what they found.
On May 20th, representatives from the University of Tokyo and the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology met with their counterparts at the University of Utah's Technology Venture Development office, the Governor's Office of Economic Development, Brigham Young University's Technology Transfer Office, and the Utah Science, Technology and Research Initiative (USTAR). Ceremonies
Celebrating 50 Years of Friendship Between Matsumoto and Salt Lake City
Salt Lake City - Organized by the Center for Documentary Arts, Ceremonies is a multi-media exhibit that explores and celebrates the Sister City relationship between Matsumoto, Japan, and Salt Lake City. The exhibit combines personal photos, letters, and recorded interviews of Sister City participants in both countries to tell the story of a unique friendship. The Sister City program developed from President Eisenhower's People-to-People initiative, which he announced to the nation on September 11, 1956. For more info, click here.
