Sitting in Silence to Seek and to Get Counsel from the Lord Is NOT a sad moment but a DEFINING moment in your life! By Sonya As many of you may or may not know I have been in the beauty industry for 21 years and in ministry for 15 years. I have seen God do some amazing things in my life and in the life of others. At times in each of our lives we need to stop the social network and sit down and listen to the voice of God to make sure we are still in His will, are we still on track basically to sum it up, God what is your plan for me? I recently moved to another state but not just physically but also in my mind, body, soul and spirit. In life we all must stop and talk to the Lord, this doesn't mean that something is wrong on the contrary it means that something on the inside of you has changed. Have you ever continued on with your plans when you knew in your heart that you should not have continued on? It is so easy to go back to what is familiar because we can't see what is ahead for us if we decide to do something different. For example, moving forward with the wedding because you have already sent out the invitations when you knew in your heart you should have called it off. Sometimes we are so busy trying to protect our image that we lose sight of God's plan and His will for our lives. Have you thought about telling someone no but you said yes to them just because it seemed like the Christian thing to do but you found out that God wasn't in it. Do you remember the story of Elijah who ran to the cave and God allowed a powerful wind that tore the mountains and shattered rocks, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire and after the fire came a gentle whisper the voice of the Lord. I wonder sometimes if we are looking some much for the big things that we could possibly be over looking the whisper of His voice. Most of us want to be apart of the in crowd and to be liked by everyone. The bible clearly tells us what profits a man to gain the whole world and to lose his soul. Can you sit in silence for longer than one day to find new direction, purpose, vision and clarity? What if God wants to put and end to your plans or revise the plans that you have so that He can reposition you to prosper? As a people we are so strong willed that we forget that God created us for His purpose and that we must humble ourselves. Paul said this in Philippians 3:7, 'but whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that is though faith in Christ-the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.' I wonder after considering everything you have accomplished in your life, could you decide to write it all off as 'rubbish'. We must be careful of considering past achievements so important that they get in the way of God's will for our lives. Sitting in Silence to get counsel from the Lord may mean that you must make major changes in your thinking and in your lifestyle. Are you willing to change your values to know his will for your life? Will you fix or rearrange your crowded schedule in order to set sometime aside to pray, read your bible and to seek His face? Will you change some of your plans, goals, and desires in order to conform to His will? Whatever you must change or give up, having Christ and becoming one with him will be more than worth the sacrifice. This is not a sad moment but a defining moment in my life. . Let me put it this way has something every happened in your life where you just needed to be alone just you and the Lord and nothing know one could say or do could help you through this moment. This doesn't require a pity party and neither does it require sympathy but it is to count it all as joy because we want His will for our lives. It might not be that you did something wrong it could just be the ending of one season in your life and that a new one is about to begin. So it is about 3:45am in the morning and after praying to the Lord that I have decided to take sometime to sit in silence to make sure that I am where He wants me to be in His will. Now that I am in this new place in my life God what are your plans for me? No one can answer or make a comment about this part of your life but God. I will not be writing for a while because what good is it to minister to everyone else and not allow time for God to minister to me about me. When I come back some things that I may have been doing would have stopped or changed but I want His will because only what you do for Christ will last. I want to come back wiser, stronger, and with a new outlook on life which I can only get by sitting in silence. This will be my last newsletter until after I hear from the Lord. I encourage you to maybe take some time as well to seek God concerning His plans for your life. Until we meet again thank you and I love you my Beautifully Speaking Family. I will not close with if this article was a blessing to you please let me know. I will close with I will speak with you later. LOVE YOU Beautifully Speaking, Sonya
