Hello Alaska,
Happy Earth Day everyone!! To celebrate, Starbucks is giving away free brewed coffee, or tea if you bring in your own mug! To add a little incentive in addition to creating an income opportunity, their tumblers and travel mugs are 20% off today. Brilliant!

Transparent, but clever only because they integrated some technical information for validity and built a sense of immediacy with the last warning. I hope all of us know that there is constant phishing going on and a first check is always the return email address. This one was -
ACSALASKA WEBMAIL brettenelson@att.net
That made me chuckle!!

While that one was very obvious and somewhat amusing, this one is pretty clever and kinds scary!
- Someone enters a hotel with pizza fliers in hand and proceeds to distribute them under the door of guestrooms. The flier has a bogus company name and phone number on it. The guest calls the number to order the food. The operator asks for the person's name, credit card number and CCV pin on the back of the card for payment. That information is then promptly used to make illegal purchases. By the time the guest calls back wondering where their pizza is, the card has been used multiple times.
Its frustrating and unnerving to discover to what length crooks will go, to dupe the unsuspecting. Hotels probably allow this distribution with little worry, especially if the restaurant name is known locally (only the phone number needs to be different), because they perceive it as a value-added benefit for their guests.
Be aware my friends, be aware and have a very safe Easter weekend!
