Greetings!

Check out the latest details about what is going on at Pathways and share this information with your family, friends, congregation, and community.

Thank you for your continuing support of Pathways Lutheran Outdoor Ministries!
11 Days and Counting!
Time is running out on your opportunity to make a tax-free charitable gift from your IRA.  Under the Pension Protection Act of 2006 you can give up to $100,000 tax free from your IRA to a qualified charity like Pathways if you are age 70 ½ or older and complete your gift by December 31, 2007!

Take a step today to leave a legacy for ministry and mission!  Qualified Retirement Plans (IRAs, 401Ks, 403Bs) are a great way to save for retirement.  Accumulations build up tax-free until you need them for retirement.  But when you go to take the money out or worse yet, try to pass the accumulated value on to your heirs, your qualified plan can become an "Internal Revenue Account". That's why qualified retirement plans make great vehicles for making charitable gifts.  It's quite possible that by using your qualified retirement plan to make a significant gift to your congregation, Pathways or other favorite ELCA ministry, you can actually leave more of your estate to your heirs and less to estate taxes.

For more information about how to use Qualified Retirement Accounts to make charitable gifts, please call Andrea Ohnstad, Pathways Assistant Director for more information at 218.751.4208 or email Andrea.

More information also can be found at the ELCA Foundation at 800.638.3522 or visit the ELCA website.

Goodbye Marie KirschsteinMarie
It is with sadness and regret that Pathways will be saying goodbye this week to Marie Kirschstein, the Pathways High Adventure Program Director.  Marie has been in this position since April 2006.  She was instrumental in the creation and implementation of the Challenge Course program at Camp Emmaus.  She brought fresh air to the High Adventure program introducing some new Mission Adventures to Denver and Chicago.  She also shared her technology gifts in keeping the web site up to date as well as hundreds of other daily items.  Please share your gratitude by sending her a message at marie@pathwaysbiblecamps.com.

Marie will complete her position as High Adventure Program Director as of December 31.  She has agreed to continue at Pathways for two months being contracted to work on changes to our web site and companion with the new High Adventure Program Director, training on the intricacies of the Challenge Course.
