Weekly News and Notes From the Duke Global Health Institute
Greetings!
Fieldwork projects can be life-changing experiences for most students who undertake them. That's why DGHI makes it a priority to help students find and fund meaningful experiences. This year, 23 undergraduate, graduate and professional students received grants to conduct research and service projects throughout the world, including in North Carolina. Read more about these projects below.
This week DGHI announced a new funding opportunity for third-year medical students, and a pilot research grant program focused on bioengineering in global health. Read more about these in the student and faculty sections, respectively.
I hope to see you all at tomorrow's lecture by DGHI Member Kate Whetten at 12 pm and the University Seminar on Global Health featuring Andrew Boulle from the University of Cape Town, South Africa at 4:30 pm. Both take place at the John Hope Franklin Center.
Finally, DGHI joins Duke University in remembering Dr. John Hope Franklin, who lived his life working against inequities in the world. He will forever be an inspiration to all who continue his fight.
Until Next Week,
Geelea Seaford and Everyone at DGHI |
