Peter Piot to Cap Off this Semester's University Seminar on Global Health Series
Peter Piot, former Executive Director of UNAIDS, will visit Duke on April 23 and give the final University Seminar on Global Health of this semester. He will speak at 4:30 pm in the School of Nursing Auditorium on Trent Drive. (Parking is available in the Clinic Parking Garage on Trent Drive.) Piot led UNAIDS from its creation in 1995 until resigning in December 2008. Under his leadership, UNAIDS became the chief advocate for worldwide action against AIDS, and brought together ten organizations of the United Nations system around a common agenda on AIDS. Later this year, Piot will take the helm as the first director of a new global health institute being created at Imperial College London.
Clinical Trials Procedures Now Available
The Clinical Trials Unit at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Center has prepared numerous Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for clinical trials that meet NIH requirements. DGHI is pleased to share these documents with others who are working in resource-limited locations. Although most of these SOPs were developed for AIDS clinical trials, many of these documents can be modified and extrapolated to meet your specific project needs. SOPs are available in the areas of Administration, Clinical, Data Management, Laboratory and Pharmacy. To access, go to http://globalhealth.duke.edu/resources/sops
