Greetings!

If you were not able to attend the University Seminar on Global Health presentation by Ellen Piwoz, of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, we invite you to watch the video highlight on our website. Our fifth speaker in this series, Prabhat Jha, of the University of Toronto, will be speaking on "Smoking Mortality in India" on November 19. We hope you can attend. The final presentation in the seminar series will be with Tom Quinn, director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Global Health, on December 3.

This coming week, we invite you to learn more about efforts to cure blindness at the Global Blindness Symposium on November 13. We are particularly delighted that Dr. Rao, president of the WHO Vision 2020 program, will be giving the keynote talk at noon on Nov. 13. Dr. Rao is an international authority on blindness eradication programs and anchors a panel of experts from four countries.

We also bring your attention to a panel of speakers presenting at Duke's 2008 Entrepreneurship Week. On November 19, from 2:30 - 4:00 pm, three social innovators in domestic and global healthcare delivery will lead a discussion on Breaking New Ground: Social Entrepreneurship in Healthcare Delivery.

These are just some of the opportunities this newsletter highlights. Please continue reading for more information on opportunities and events in global health. As always, if you have information you would like included in this newsletter, please email marsha.green@duke.edu.
